Remembering the 2009 NFC Championship Game

I just watched the clip from the game where Brett Favre threw the INT to Porter, and man, looking back on that game, I remember when the Vikings were driving down the field with the clock winding down, I was like, it's over, they're going to kick a field goal, and that will be it, the Super Bowl dream will be gone.

But then, BAM! Favre throws the pick and the Saints have new life. It was awesome, the way the game ended, at one point it looked like it was over and then Favre makes that costly error. Definitely one of the most exciting games ever, especially since it sent the Saints to the Super Bowl!

Most definitely diat, I remember that game being back and forth the whole way through. I also remember the Vikings had some fumblitis during that game, they put the ball on the ground several times, and then Favre throwing that interception is what sealed the deal.

What's ironic about it is that Favre could have run the ball, he had a wide open side of the field to pick up a few extra yards, but that's not Favre. He was always a gun-slinger, and if he thought he had a seam in which he could fire a pass, he was going to take it, hence the reason he is the all-time leader in passing touchdowns and interceptions.

Now if we had been playing against an RGIII or Russell Wilson in that situation, we would have been screwed lol.

Hey, kclsufan, nothing wrong with this thread! I understand the Dome Patrol thread wasn't the best thread, but there is nothing wrong with this one! I will stand by that!

I came close to going but decided not to. The woman was pregnant, and I didn't wanna leave her for the weekend. Plus I'm not sure if I could have afforded a ticket at that time

Coolest thing I ever present for was LSU winning the 2007 national title. I would have preferred to see the Saints win though.

How agonizingly slow and painful was that final drive to the FG? I couldn't believe how long it was taking, with a replay seemingly coming after every play. ESPECIALLY after PT's KO return.

That kick was sweet

I was about 10 rows from the top of the dome (375 for the ticket...when I had season tickets for like 150 in the Haslett era ). I could feel it slipping away like any success we had ever had in the past. I was getting really sick about it an told my brother that if we lose this game in this manner I may be done with sports for awhile. That incredible season and all its magic seemed like it was going to be gone.

I honestly dont remember the drive to kick the FG in overtime. Think I was so stressed all I can remember is a crowd over at my friends house and half the people there were kneeling down in prayer for that drive.

I was sitting on the couch at my dad's house during the driving, slumped and just staring at the floor. I was thinking that this is fricking bull shite. It's done. It's over.

I remember feeling so upset when the Vikings were driving down the field, I was like, man we were so close!!! It was a horrible feeling, knowing that the Saints were so so close to their first Super Bowl and that it would end on a last second field goal. But then that interception, and I just felt totally restored, the dream was still alive! And it remained alive all the way to a Super Bowl championship :)

You're right, he had 4 yards easy. Would have been about a 45-47 yard FG for the win.

It was one of the few that I could tell was going straight through right when he kicked it. Just thinking back to that moment still gives me chills. Everyone in the city was going crazy and we could hear it all the way back to the causeway. Horns honking, people screaming, fireworks going off. Was unreal

Really?

Maybe some should watch again.

Vikes outplayed the saints that day.

Glad saints won but I've watched it 4 or 5 times since.

Saints really didn't do much and the O had its worse game of the year

I'm glad we won, but looking back at it, especially after seeing the NFL films on it...we were pretty lucky to have won that game.
