If the Saints pick Mingo, it's a first.

The draft tomorrow marks the 46th NFL draft that the Saints have participated in and the team has never selected an LSU player in the 1st round.
Georgia, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Alabama, California, Texas, Colorado, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and USC have had multiple players taken in the 1st by the Black & Gold, but LSU hasn't had one.
Looks like this might be the year.

After watching Austin's highlight video, he's a guy I'd love to have in this offense. His ability to cut and change direction is unreal. But I think I'd be disappointed if we didn't go defensive.

The Saints traded for Cuozzo (backup to Unitas) for a #1 overall + a 3rd & a 7th Rder before their first season.
He washed out fast. Amazingly, they still got two 1st Rders for Cuozzo when they traded him to Minny. Hardy was one of those picks, #7 overall. Never played a down for the Saints though. They traded him and another 1st Rd pick for Dave Parks.

That may end up being the case, but I said if Mingo was on the board @15 we pick him.
That wouldn't make you happy but it's a real possibility. Hell, we may even work out a deal with the Jets to move into their spot to get Mingo and that will ready light you up...that would be throwing Jet fuel on the fire!
