This dude posted this on Saints Report(Please don't bash me, just trying to give y'all the latest info).
I had not seen this reported anywhere but I picked a friend up from the airport last night who was seated next to Kenny Vaccaro. Kenny said, "I had a workout with the Saints and a really great meeting with them." He hopes to know soon where he will be playing next. That's exciting news given the awful safety play from last year.

I won't bash you. It's info, well, it's something I guess.

I do think there is a real possibility we pick the kid. I know our pass rush was absent last year, but we've been dealing with poor safety play for a while. Even when Jenkins seemed to do ok in coverage, he always seemed a couple of seconds too late to make a play on the ball.

Is this Vacarro's guy a FS or SS?

Not to be a dick, but this is completely worthless information. I haven't read anything more generic on this board. Ever.

A good pass rush can make a bad secondary look great. It's all about the amount of time someone has to cover a receiver or read the offense. Would much rather take Mingo or Jarvis if they are there or someone like Star who can help collapse the pocket

Maybe we will get him when we trade back.

Could be worse. We could pick Mingo.

That's been my biggest question about him. I've watched 0 Texas games over the last few years, so I've never seen him play. And I hate when sites group FS/SS into one position, "safety". As awful aw Jenkins and Harper have been, could you imgaine how much worse they would be playing the other's position.

I'm high on IAQ, so I hope we don't go FS too early. If he's a SS like nfl.com has, then I'd be ok with the pick, as long as Jones and Star are off the board. I don't like the idea of going SS that early, especially because this class seems deep, but we obviously need an upgrade at that position. According the spotrac, Harper has no dead money next year, so Vaccaro could sit for year, we cut Harper after this year, and start him next year. Wouldn't be the worst pick.

I just think Vacarro is Malcolm Jenkins 2.0 hybrid corner/safety maybe alil better tackler not as good in coverage. So why use the 15th pick on him? I think if a edge rusher, star, or a elite OT isn't there we have to try to trade back.

Just asking because I haven't watched Vaccaro, but why the Jenkins comparison? Vaccaro actually played safety in college, and the scouting reports I read said Vaccaro is pretty good in coverage, as opposed to Jenkins who has been horrible in coverage.

Seen him play quite a few times and he was really asked to to alot on a mediocre defense. He played safety where when he came down in the box he was a good tackler. Also covered the slot alot where he covered decent but not great. Blitz of te slot was ok. Do doubt he is alil better player But I just don't see the huge upgrade to warrant spending our first pick. Also don't see the value at 15. If we trade back then maybe.

I think that's what they met with him for. In case all the pass rushers, Starr, and top 3 LT's are off the board. I really they are planning on a lot of what if trade back scenarios. If we go back to around pick 20-25, suddenly he has very good value there.

Jones would have to be off the board as well for me to want to trade back. I wouldn't be crazy about a Vacarro pick at 15.

Why would you be bashed? Safety is the biggest need position on the roster. With left tackle a close second.

I thought I might get bashed from posting this From "Saints Report"
Also Not everyone thinks that Safety is that big of a need though(I do). Also not everyone likes Kenny Vacarro(I Do).

I wouldn't mind this scenario at all in a trade back, but we may be able to get a guy like Elam or Cyprien in the 2nd allowing us to grab a bigger position of need with a late first.
