I forgot how uppity the food board can be. I don't eat the stuff, but I was surprised that the DLT was SUCH a success.

The correct terminology is "team members."

There is no shame in an honest days labor. A job is a job and Taco Bell seems to have done a good thing by innovating to the point that they needed to add so many "team members."

If I had to guess, for many of those 15000, it's the first job they've ever held, as are many fast food jobs. These people are now in the workforce and learning to be productive, employable people. Regardless of whether you like the product or not, this is a good thing.

Next from Taco Bell’s test kitchens is the spicy Doritos Flamas taco, based on Frito Lay’s chili-lime flavored Doritos, which is Creed’s personal “favorite.” He expects to launch this newest menu item in the second half of this year.

“It’s an amazing product. It’s spicy but it has a lime aftertaste,” Creed said. “You bite into it…You feel this real spiciness, and then the Frito Lay people are so magical with their seasoning, you get this lovely lime spiciness that sort of cools your mouth.”

come on bro it's fricking Taco Bell

quote:

Creed explained how one taco, the Doritos Locos Taco, helped create 15,000 jobs for the Yum! Brands subsidiary. Taco Bell says it has 150,000 team members in its restaurants nationwide.

“It’s great we sold lots of tacos and it’s great for our shareholders, but if you can get 15,000 people off the unemployment line and give them jobs -- that to me is giving back to society. That is having a social conscience in doing the right thing. That’s really important to me.“

Did he add 15,000 new full-time employees or part-time? Just curious.

quote:

We’ve got to continue to make our food better in the sense of less sodium and calories,” he said. “We’ve got to offer choice and we’ve got to encourage people to try these products. And hopefully they’ll eat better. But ultimately it comes back I think to individual choice

Yeah I really don't get all caught up in the Fight Obesity crowd constantly going after fast food joints for the calorie/sodium levels of their food. People chose what they want to eat .. you can't legislate that out or intimidate businesses to get them to comply to the moral authority's "standards."

care to explain or elaborate on this baseless claim? are you capable of any actual thought or would a "tl;dr" post more suit your mental acumen?
