You can't compare pitching stats between the two teams. The bats make that big a difference.

Can someone post some names on that team to help people compare. Numbers only say so much.

The League, overall might have been better that year. We also had one game in which we gave up 28 runs, but, regardless, check the slugging pct. I bet that clearly defines the difference in the bats.

a 4.62 ERA in the big barrel era is pretty impressive IMO.

I respect the effort for digging up the stats, but its nearly impossible to compare these 2 teams. The change in the bats makes it like comparing apples to oranges.

Lets give the "best team ever" a rest while we are at it. Let the entire season play out.

LSU teams are judged by winning in Omaha. Just ask the 86 or 98 teams. Those teams were just as good as the 1997 team but didn't win it all.

None of the numbers are comparable due to the bat change. Obviously 13 pitching looks better because bats and 13 batting looks worse. If you look at all the numbers though, the 13 numbers look as good or better than 97 IMO.

give the '13 guys the bats used in 97 and I would bet that they would exceed .607.

Considering all the hits that I've seen (I haven't watched every game) that have died at the warning track. These kids can hit and they do it with dead bats.

'97 was special though

In 97, dead duck bloopers went yard. It was so ridiculous.
