He already is in MLB and Robinson Cano fired Boras to sign with Jay-Z a couple of weeks ago.

Ricky Williams can't wait to sign up with Jay-Z's agency.

Yeah, most had a law degree too.

He doesn't even have a high school diploma
And how many of them have as much experience in business deals as big as some of the ones he is involved in? And he's rather obviously been successful in them as well.

Be good rappping. Get tons of money you can't blow it all. Create record label. Manage all your music and own rights. Manage other artist. Get half their earnings. Still get tons of money. Start clothing for other wanna be gangstas and classy urban youth. Get more money. Buy sports franchise.

How exactly do you screw that up if you're not hooked on tons of drugs?
Yea, it's so easy that every rapper in the world is as successful as Jay Z.

They also had years of school and training on the subject
If you want to be technical, if he passes the test to become an agent, he will have the exact same amount of schooling and training on the actualy subject as other agents.

There ya go.

Though I love the notion that Jay Z can build a global marketing plans and be part of creating business ventures for the new company, but people think he couldn't possibly ever one day be able to negotiate contracts.

Not sure if serious...I would think an attorney would have 100's of hours more schooling/training as it pertains to understanding the law/league contracts/union laws, etc.

So you don't think you would have more law/contract law/language/semantics of the law training than Jay Z? Anything "LAW" outside of criminal law should give you more knowledge than him...on second thought, criminal law would help because of all of the clauses in the contract pertaining to that area as well....

I cannot wrap my head around you thinking he is at your level in law, which is about 95% of a players contracts.

I didn't say he's at my level of law. I can write and argue better than jay z. But in terms of being an agent, we probably know about the same.

Law school doesn't necessarily prepare you for being an agent. Sure, there has to be offer/acceptance and consideration for a binding contract, but anyone can learn that without ever going to law school.

oh good, another law school egomaniac

I think Jay-Z would kill it as an agent, especially if his main job is just to attract and sign players? shiiiiiit

Dude, the original arguement was someone saying he would have the EXACT amount of training as any other agent, if he passed the course/test to be an agent.

I say NO WAY*, he would need others doing the contract legal stuff which has been said is his plan.

Now that makes sense. I'm shocked at all the geniuses in here thinking that Jay-Z is perfectly capable of interpreting and negotiating contracts though because he's a successful marketer/entertainer.

I'd be willing to bet there is not one person that can honestly say they work more than Jay Z does. The guy is truly a workaholic and extremely good at everything he does.

Gotta love the haters because he's black, raps, and has more money than you could ever imagine.

Nice to see people's bigotry/preconceptions floating to the top here.

Anybody who's read *one* article about Jay-Z (much less any number of books about the business of hip hop, and his role in *that* business climate) would have zero concern not only about his ability to do the job, but do it ridiculously well.
