I don't think you guys understand my situation. I'm not an OB baller. I'm the guy that drives his wife's 40mpg Focus instead of his FX4 any time he has to go more than 40 miles.
Then New Mexico.
-Super low property taxes (compared to Texas)
-Land is reasonable
-Real estate is depressed, go good deals available
-Open carry
-Most local hispanics hate illegals, so they get Immigration to do sweeps for illegals on a regular basis (it's not considered racist)

This issue is employment. I still have a place in the central mountains on 40 acres (used to work in NM). I can fill you in on NM if you have any questions.

Concerning price and overall needs, check out Ashland Oregon. I'd check out Utah as well. Loved my time, although short, there.

No need to buy property. Public land is normally less than 30 minute drive away.

SOLD! Idaho was always my first choice anyway.

But seriously, I would like to visit and check it out. Those prices aren't bad at all.

Beautiful place. Great people, on the lake and in the mountains. It hasn't been "discovered" yet so prices are very affordable. Winters are fairly mild but you do have 4 solid seasons, with cooler summers. Also has a ski area.

Cool looking place.

Best thing about moving somewhere. If you don't like it you can always move again. Ill never forget my time in Montana and Wyoming. Hope to spend more time there in the future.

The road goes both ways.

I don't see how anyone could go west and not love it though. so much to do outdoors.

Friend of mine who works for the Forest Service was sent from here, to Montana, to DC. He is dying in DC and has a chance to go to Ashland Oregon, where he is originally from. It's a different world.

yup alot of people still dont know its so cheap so oh well. im planning on buying a few pieces of land for hunting and gold mining purposes so i cant wait. and most areas are within 20 mins to a decent sized town. all you have to do is drill and well and flaten a piece of property and build a cheap cabin and have your own slice of peace.

You really don't need much land out West, in most places. Hell, I've got a 20 million acre playground, don't need a huge private tract.

Lots of public land, uncrowded as it is..most areas of the West. You have places to play as far as they eye can see.

It's awesome. The places I can go and things I can do are almost unlimited. No fences, no signs.
