Yep. Coming up in Cleveland,Mississippi could be a struggle. I have a co-worker from up that way and he says its rough.

Not reading 5 pages, but he can take his name back out if he doesn't sign with an agent, right?

If he doesn't hire an agent, he has until June 17th to withdraw his name. The moment anyone signs on that dotted line for an agent, their college career is done

He's doing it early - good sign! And he's doing it with JJ- even better! Can't wait till next year!

It appears the NBA withdrawal and NCAA eligibility withdrawal is different. NCAA deadline is April 16, so, just 7 days from now.

If that's what he wants to do so be it, but that would be like a baseball player settling for staying in the minor leagues his whole career.
How many players have gone undrafted, went to Europe and made a return to NBA? I'm willing to bet you won't fill up two hands counting
I agree but some players make a really good living playing in Europe. No it's not millions of dollars a year like the NBA but he could live comfortable. I dont know his financial situation or needs his family may have but this is his only realistic possibility imo and if he thinks it will benefit him so be it.

Ah okay, that's a little odd but everything is with Stern and the NBA

when was the last time an LSU athlete called a press conference and stayed? I'm sure its happening recently but my selective memory isnt allowing me to recall. Maybe when like they called a presser for 5 football players and 1 said he was coming back.
Glen Davis in 2006. Tyrus announced he was going, Glen announced he was staying.

yeah big baby announced he was coming back the same day tyrus declared. in football i think andrew whitworth had a presser to say he was returning back in 05 as well.

So he'll be making what 60K a year in Europe playing ball?
He'd make over 100k (no taxes, no rent) if he went overseas right now, maybe more.
Bigger question (if he does declare and ends up overseas)is the cultural change to living in small European cities versus being home in MS or in BR. Thats very tough for some guys.

Sorry, I just don't buy the struggling family argument. If its been that way for his entire life, then what is one more year? The possibility of improving and making it to the NBA and tripling your money would seem like a smart bet. If he was going to get drafted I would say leave now, but he's not. How would he comfortably support himself overseas and his family back home??? He won't be making that kind of money
