It does where warranted .... or we could just let dogs eat cops because they are someone's pet. I suppose the cop isn't someone's dad, husband, son, .... no, save the frickin dog by all means.

On another note, I think it's safe to assume by the grammatically correct post on an internet forum and his past posts that this guy probably doesn't live in the ghetto. He talked about the dog being fenced in electronically, meaning it not only has a massive collar on, but it likely isn't an "attack" dog since it is outdoors practically free in the yard/driveway where it can come in contact with neighbors daily without a real fence blocking it.

I can see why a random dog in the hood might be more threatening than a dog in a carport with an electric fence would be.

I'm not saying the cop is lying because I sure as shite wasn't there.. but I think this new influx of people claiming lately that middle class suburban people's pups are going attack mode are absolutely ridiculous.

It's like the thread earlier with the podunk kid "practicing archery in his yard when a pit bull came around attacking". Oh but that story only came after he received death threats and legal charges.

Yeah....

re: Cop shot the neighbor's dog...

Most people wouldn't have a problem with a cop shooting a dog when they were literally in danger. But there is such a precedent of cops shooting dogs that posed no threat that it's hard to automatically jump to the cop's defense in these cases. They just happen way too frequently, often involving shady statements and evidence, and rarely, if ever, is a police officer ever held accountable for a wrongful shooting when it comes to dogs.

One thing that I think many here don't take into consideration is how many times on a daily basis officers that due employ lesser forms of force to avoid shooting a dog. Of course that wouldn't make the news so no one would hear about it.

I'm sorry, but there are too many other ways to subdue a dog without shooting it. Unless it is a rabid pitbull, I don't agree with shooting a dog without using less lethal options.

Pretty much. You're the only person in here saying mace is ineffective on dogs. Sorry, but I think you're full of shite and defending a cop's actions that were unnecessary.

Well I agree about other options. I wouldn't be so quick to judge someone based on trends, other dog shootings, and personal bias involving the love of dogs. I would never say lethal force isn't an option.

I for one don't want to be bit by a dog. If it were a serious bite I would have to take off of work which would cost me a lot of money.

Why is it a given that using mace will guarantee a bite?

It doesn't and I didn't imply that it did. It isn't guaranteed to stop the dog either.

Again I ask. Do we know if the officer in this incident used mace before resorting to shooting the dog?

I could do your fricking job, but I'm smart enough to not have to do it. I'm sure you'd make a great engineer though

No, but Redbone keeps telling me that mace just doesn't work. That's my issue.
