Unfortunately, it appears I know have hogs wandering around. Had one on trail cam.

What do I look for to hunt these things, where do the sleep? when are they most active.

What you need to do is have a couple of OBers come hunt them with you.

You can probably trap them for a while since they just showed up. After a couple of rounds they get trap smart and will not go in (at least mine didn't). Seem to be most active at night, especially in and after rain. In Louisiana you can night hunt them on private property from March to August. Make a concoction of the nastiest shite you can imagine, bury it, throw a trap over it, capitalize with a round to the dome, repeat. Good luck, I have been fighting them for 2 years, and quickly losing.

I'm constantly impressed by them. I have more hogs than deer on some pieces of property but it amazes me how I can jump a deer every time I go in the woods but never see a hog. Pretty sure they get in the thickest shite during the day and you damn near have to step on one to make it move.

ahh shite...

it was just a matter of time. you gotta be persistent, or they'll run you over. to keep a population from increasing, gotta kill 70% of them. so that should tell you something.

Where are you located? I have a team of specialist (novices) that are fully prepared (kinda) to take care of just this situation.

Would it be considered trespassing of we just showed up and layed waste to the hog population on 79s land?

Find the thickest shite around. They love cutovers with downed trees and whatnot. There will be a trail between that and a wallow. That's your main chance. Put out corn there and set up to night hunt. They love water and mad. Put your camera on the pile and get them timed then get out there and smoke their asses. You won't get them all but that's a fun way to get some.

Trap. Trap. Trap. You can also snare them if they get trap shy by putting the snares around the edge of the trap. They will walk around it but won't go in. Bang. Caught.

Good luck. You will never completely get rid of them without dogs and even then it will be short lived.

They gotta have wallows. If, there's not much water on your property that can help localize them, but they are VERY mobile.

Best chance is over bait at night. I been f$%king up with my thermal imaging scope. Can spot them from waaaaaaay off even bedded down.

I am definitely considering opening it up for select OB members to come kill these mofo's and teach me how to deer hunt more better

Correct on all accounts. Wish I had thermal vision. Instead I get a 3rd kiddo (3rd boy and 3rd future hunter)

I will also vote for night vision scopes on top of ARs as a quality pig eradicating setup. Only been able to whack a couple of nutria with mine, but I'm hoping the success rate extends to a few hogs this summer
