ehh...nasri wasn't a big name. santi > nasri

Sol Campbell was a huge pickup too.

I think bergkamp was a pretty big name when we signed him.

I beg to differ.

Talking about relatively recent history. Nasri was very well known.

Everything you said about him was 100% correct. Great player, great guy. Makes any squad better with his inclusion.

he was probably bigger than i gave him credit for, but still just a young promising player when we bought him. santi was an established member of the best national team side possibly ever, and at a position where they are deepest. santi was an established stud, considered by many the best non-Barca/Real La Liga player (in the mold of Arteta for many years in the EPL).

When did he start in a meaningful match for Spain?

Like a semi or final? I can't recall. Nasri did for France.

ETA: I love Santi and think he is a much better player. Just stuck in the biggest midfield logjam of all-time.

What game? Nasri had only been subbed on twice in Euro 2008 before he signed for Arsenal.

Nasri and Santi are a clear step down from Rooney, Higuian and Suarez in terms of reputation. Santi is overshadowed and Nasri was just another promising young player.

Shocking we signed him.. He really was great when Cesc was hurt in the first half of 2010/2011 season. An MVP candidate before the break.

Lets not talk about it. That whole situation was awful. He would have been a star here the season Cesc left. Moron will probably be shipped out next summer.

No doubt. He was great in that position. Greed is a powerful emotion.

Well, even many French fans think that Samir is a count so there's that.

That whole French class of 87 (Ben Arfa, Menez, Nasri, Benzema) is county.

AS reporting ManU have made a €30m bid for Cesc. sky sports says £35m pretty huge difference there.

I would be pretty shocked if that happened. wanting him in a deeper role is...interesting.

either way, they'd have to make it a 50 mil sterling bid to compete with Arsenal.

what are the details concerning Arsenal´s preferential arrangement for a hypothetical Çesc acquisition?

everyone says we have a £25m option that operates as a right of first refusal of sorts, as well. if they sell him to someone else we also get a chunk of that over a certain point. word this morning was that ManU's bid was right at the level where we wouldn't get any sell-on £££.

that's why most Arsenal people believe it's either us or Barça.
