i had a hard coach so being tough doesnt bother me. This dude just went over the top. These guys arent professionals. I cant believe people are arguing the other side

Educators should be held to a higher standard. Grabbing a kid by the arm is one thing but when you start throwing the ball at their head that crosses the line. If someone did that to you, you'd want to knock them the hell out. But of course those kids can't do anything for fear of losing their scholarship. Rice had to go, and it should have happened months ago.

I didn't see the video, and likely never will. He probably should have been fired. My problem with the situation is that the AD did do something to discipline him, but ESPN felt like that just wasn't enough and decided to run the story during the NCAA tournament when all eyes would be on the college basketball world.
I don't like that ESPN gets to be moral authority and decide how much punishment is enough.

I agree. I didn't have a problem until I seen the videos. When you aim at certain body parts, that's where I draw the line. Yeah I've seen coaches throw the ball softly with TWO hands hitting a player in the head, throw the ball softly hitting them in the back. But damn the guy was aiming and throwing with one hand, tryin to throw that shite hard. He was acting like he was playing dodgeball. There's a reason you don't use basketballs in dodgeball.

Um because they've put their knee up to keep from getting hit. I've been rewinding the shite on DVR shaking my head. Of course you're not gonna stand there unprotected. A grown man was aiming at their balls, groin, mid section throwing hard. That's not some lil 6yr old throwing at you.
Why should they have to put their leg or knee up if it wasn't serious. They sure didn't just stand there. You had grown, tall, men trying to avoid getting hit in certain areas. What does that tell ya, where was he aiming at.

Mike Rice needs one of those players he's abusing to fricking unload on his arse just once and that'd be the end of that forever.
just let him pull that shite on 6'9" power forward with a temper and get his arse knocked out. he'd be a different person from there on out.
this is not a leader of men. this is an angry lil boy who can't express himself in a positive manner in teaching of the game of basketball to 18-21 year old kids.

No one is bitching about the video.
The video was fine. When Rutgers disciplined him, no one knew because of the video. This was new.
The problem most have is the way ESPN interviewed him. The reporters job is to ask questions, not call for his firing. And the worst part is, Rutgers obviously caved in to the national story and fired him because it blew up.
Where was ESPN's agenda during the Te'o debacle? They let him off easy
