TMC*: I would like to discuss the pros and cons of burnout sets.

Do you do burnout sets?

If so, do you only do them for certain muscle groups?

If so, what muscle groups do you target?

If so, what are the advantages?

If not, okay?

TIA

I do them for two muscle groups:

1.arches of the foot
2.armpit

Anything else is an injury risk and just plain silly imho fwiw.

I've done them for squats, bench, cleans, etc.

I do them after I've done all of my normal sets, then do a negative set, and a burnout set.

IIRC, stretching your muscles to the limit like this is a good supplemental set for muscle building.

Absolutely! Usually just at the very end of a workout. I love both pushing to absolute failure and I love the pump from all the blood that gets drawn into the working muscle. I do them mainly on isolation moves (particularly leg extensions, hamstring curls, various bicep and tricep exercises) but if you can get two people to stip weight for you, the feeling of doing drop sets on leg press is amazing.

Yeah I do it at the end of some workouts to get the blood flowing to those muscles.
