Appreciate it! I picked out an EVGA card, I'll order it when I get back from my travels. Any suggestions on a monitor? Going to need to upgrade that as well...
And obviously I'm looking for 1440
Currently working with 27 inches. It's a pretty nice size, but I wouldn't hate going up in size if that were available and reasonably affordable.

27" is standard for 16:9 1440P, so you'll feel right at home with it.

Someone may come along and find a better deal, but I am a fan of glossy monitors, and my OCD favors the peace of mind of Perfect Pixel (guaranteed no dead pixels).

My 1440p comes tomorrow, pray for no dead pixels. I could live with one or two in a corner.
Also, I had my friend build his first PC Thursday, he bought my 270X and Corsair PSU with an 8350.
He bought DayZ and I got it a few weeks ago on sale but hadn't played it yet, we're both really really enjoying it. Guess we timed it right with this 0.52 patch including a bunch of new stuff.

So I built this a couple weeks ago using a parts list I found online.
CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P ATX AM3+/AM3
Memory: Kingston Fury Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 280 3GB Double Dissipation
Case: Corsair SPEC-01 RED ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply: XFX 550W ATX12V / EPS12V
I didn't have the biggest budget since I just got out of college. Besides adding an SSD, what would be my next upgrades to look into once my budget becomes more flexible?

Fairly balanced build as is, but no real upgrade path. A worthwhile CPU upgrade will require a new motherboard as well. GPU is usually first priority in upgrading gaming builds, so look into that. GTX 970 or better, or wait to see what AMD brings in their R9-300 seriesin 2015.

GREAT PICS! I miss the blood oranges I used to get in Sicily. Little man looks like he is doing great and did you laugh before helping your daughter up?

If anyone is looking to upgrade ram, I have a nice set of vengeance pro ram.

My 1440p monitor has been delivered, almost home!

First post on it, no dead pixels!!!!!!! YASSS!
Man, everything is so much smaller in 1440p though everything looks mini compared to before.
ETA: Changed settings in Windows from default small 100% size to medium 125%, much better.

I prefer 100% at 1440p personally. At 4K, though, I'd probably have to go bigger.

I still want to see a 1440p monitor but there is no where you can go to see one.

Microcenter if there's one nearby, that's about all I can think of.

DayZ surprisingly didn't need any real changes for 1440p and I have it just about maxed out very high textures, AA, FXAA Low.
Stable 45-50FPS and in city 25-30. About normal for DayZ.
Loving this display though, no dead pixels and minimal light bleed mainly from the bottom 2 corners but not bad at all, appears it's going to work out great.
Got some nice 1440p wallpapers too I had ready and waiting.

If you have time to waste, you can probably fix the light bleed by opening the bezel and loosening, tightening, and/or adding screws to the inner panel frame (trial and error).

Is there a 1440 gsync monitor yet?
Posted on 12/29/14 at 8:49 pm to Mr Gardoki
Yeah, just one. It's also the only native 120+Hz 1440P monitor out there. It's called the ASUS ROG Swift. It is in stock for approximately two minutes per week for the low price of $799.
