With Clifton Garrett it says that Stud is recruiting him. Obviously, he is the oline coach and Garrett is a linebacker. Is that just a formality and other coaches like Chavis and Miles are recruiting him? How does this work?

Certain coaches have certain geographic territories, which helps establish relationships with coaches.

For example, Frank has South Louisiana, Stud has the midwest, Raynond has Florida, not sure about everyone else

Honestly, Stud does a lot of the northern state recruiting. He pulled in Ware.

It's divided by states and regions. It's not by position most of the time, it's who has connections, relations or contacts with high school coaches of an area or state. When LSU recruited my son 10 years ago, the D-backs coach recruited my son, not the O-line coach, because he had been a coach in his past in Mississippi. My son got to know the O-Line coach at the summer camps and early season homegame invitations.

I'm sure it starts out geographically and what position they play. But, when they get to know the players a little better they most likely would match them up with a coach that can talk to them the best. Also depends on how good the kid is and how big of a recruit he is. Wilson is our go to recruiter for big time prospects. Stud is the OL and up north guy because he is familiar with that area. Haley and Chavis go get the defensive guys. Miles is the guy that goes wherever he wants.

Area recruiter and always talk to frank since hes the recruiting coordinator so to speak. Im guessing krags will move into a roll whete he prob talks with every guy we recruit.

They meet the position coaches on visits and in home visits. Unless hes already ur area recruiter.

Pretty spot on. You need relationships with the HS coaches.

not trying to hijack op thread but I wonder how/who decided which recruits we will accept a commitment from. I know les has ultimate veto power but who decides to take upchurch and not sims now or rhaheed and not goudchaux now. I know multiple people envolved but who has most weight. position coach, oc/dc, recruiting coordinator etc.

not questioning the coaches decisions so far but more process oriented question.

Is that how most D1 schools do it by geography?
