If you really believe this is the issue then you are horribly misinformed (and probably young and stupid).

This how Dems show they "care" about the poor. By giving out free shite curtsey of the U.S. taxpayer.

Tax the over $2,000,000 1% more and let the kids eat.

Those kids parents (more likely parent) undoubtedly receive food stamps. If they cant provide for them with that then they should become wards of the state and the parents should lose all rights and applicable support.

Let the government adopt every perceived needy child. Better yet, let's just have a cradle to grave government manage society and be done with it.

Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev.) proposed the bill, which would amend the Richard Russell National School Lunch Act to set up weekend and holiday "feeding programs." The proposal is meant to help ensure that at-risk school children meet their nutritional needs, but it would only extend this help during the school year, not during the summer.

as someone who grew up on the free lunch program - this is a stupid fricking idea.

hey we are in a massive budget/deficit/debt crisis, lets expand more welfare!

Sounds like a good idea. They should call it the food stamp program.

The goal is obviously to remove any and all personal responsibility and ensuring the low-information voter stays on the teat.

And the intellectuals will fall for it too...to prove they aren't racist. LOL!

Here in Canada, a lot of the schools have no school lunch program at all. Not even a cafeteria. Parents pack the lunch and the kids eat in the classroom.

Charities and churches and the school and local businesses donate lunches for kids whose parents don't prepare a lunch.

But the expectations are that the parents provide a lunch

:mindblown:

So if you forget a lunch that day you just have to rely on the charities?

How do they get around people who say it isn't fair for parents to have to pay for their kids lunches?

I don't know how widespread the policy is, nationally. but I know it's how a lot of schools around here operate.

To answer your questions, if a kid forgets a lunch, there's always lunches to be had. There's always food. There's always something.

In all of the years in schools that several relatives and in-laws have taught in, a kid missing lunch because there's no food isn't a concern.

Primarily, it's because it doesn't happen that often. One relative works in a lower class school with a high immigrant and changing student population. Rough neighborhood.

And the vast majority of kids come to school with a lunch.

I don't follow your second question.

There aren't a lot of parents that I know of who argue that it's not fair to pay for their kids' lunches.

It's the system they know and, for the most part, it seems to work
