Roman Banks has resurrected Southern University basketball and what his team did today against a #1 seed Gonzaga was truly impressive. We all know the NCAA tournament is where young, up-and-coming coaches are discovered by the masses and the mainstream media so I figure that Banks' profile is rising now. So, do you all think Banks will be at Southern University in the long-term or short-term?

Definitely wouldn't go from Southern to a major program. A Sun Belt job is probably the biggest and most reasonable immediate step up he'd get offered.

This. If he beat Gonzaga, I could see him taking a lower major job.

He deserves a jump up. That Southern team looked like a legit tourney team. Guarded hard. Rotated the right way. Made several rotations that I didn't think they were capable of. Ran their sets and played team basketball. Impressive job by Coach Banks.

From SU to Sun Belt is a good move. If I were him I'd take it. But, I have to think if Banks has another team to give a high seed a scare or especially an upset he may can make a jump to a major. What he's done at SU in the face of scholarship limitations and where the program was at when he got there is excellent.

I don't think he will be at Southern long term. I think he gets Southern to another tourney or two(which may become more difficult with Mike Davis at Texas Southern), he will have an opportunity to move up to the mid major level. I think there are a couple of Louisiana schools that would be solid fits for him.

I don't think he will be at Southern long term, but it won't be just the next 2 years, but either way, he's gonna leave the next coach a great team. I think though that he just opened the door to getting some of these kids from instate, that are good, but not high D1 level. Like I said when he came to Peabody, he said he'd been coming to a lot of the best black high schools around the state. The guy is not a fool, he knows his base, and he keeps his ear to the ground, can't wait to see what they do the next few years, especially if they capitalize on that instate talent while he's at SU, and if another instate program picks him up, he could do major damage at a ULL.

I see Coach Banks at high school games all over the state. He works hard. Is his son going play for him at Southern?

Banks is vested @ SU. His dad, brother, and god father(Bob Love) all played at SU. SU was his dream job, from what I have been told. I don't see him leaving SU for a instate mid major. Y'all might not agree, but when SU is winning in any sport it is a very special place. Besides LSU, in state no other in state school has a greater fan base.

SU was a 13 seed in 93 when they beat Georgia Tech.
