Click the flag^^

quote:

“When you play in a team you have a chance every day to give everything you have, and part of that means having the balls to say things to guys to their face and having the balls to say things in front of the team. In those ways, it’s really disappointing that now in a week as important as this, in a week where so much is on the line, that you’d have something like that happen.”

quote:

Earlier in an interview session, when asked if he was concerned about unity and chemistry, Bradley said: “Nope.”

This is the man who should be Captain.

Other notes:

quote:

*Latest game-time weather forecast: Light snow is possible in the evening and the temperature will fall from the low-40s during the day into the 30s.
How is this compared to what most of our guys are playing in right now?

quote:

*With additional seating directly behind the north goal and new bleachers set up in the northwest and northeast corners on the mezzanine level, capacity will approach 20,000.
I hope the place is rockin

quote:

On Thursday, the USSF will also announce the venues for the four remaining home qualifiers — June 11 vs. Panama, June 18 vs. Honduras, Sept. 10 vs. Mexico and Oct. 11 vs. Jamaica. Seattle, Salt Lake City, Columbus and Kansas City are the long-standing favorites.
Going to be massive homefield advantages I bet

When I was reading it, I thought the exact same thing. This kid is a natural born leader.

There's an entire thread with shirtless men and talk of Mia Hamm's clitoris...yet this is the most disturbing thing I've read tonight.

It wasn't one guy. That was the biggest issue. It's not like Klinsmann could sit down in the hotel conference room and just talk to Jozy, or Clint or whoever mouthed off to a reporter. Brian Strauss interviewed around twenty (?) different guys and many of them rehashed the same things. If fringe players like Chris Wondolowski and Will Bruin reiterate the same criticisms as regulars like Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey, I think there may be an issue or two.

The current squad players are saying the right things in regards to the situation. Lets hope there is a noticeable shift in approach to managing the national team on Klinsmann's part.

I think Martin Vasquez may be the scapegoat to get canned, if Klinsmann makes it out of these next two qualifiers with his job intact.

Bradley is the man. I have so much respect for him, Carlos, Howard, and Deuce.

If Bradley plays like he did vs Honduras on Friday, we are screwed, as I am sure he will play great. I expect USA to win 3-1 at home.

ALL HAIL JURGEN KLINSMANN

Well, keep in mind that Strauss' sources were players and "people around the program." What if his sources were "regulars" with minimal caps under Klinsmann (Gooch, Ricardo Clark, Feilhaber), deposed coaches (Thomas Rongen, Caleb Porter) and somebody with an axe to grind (an Arena or a Lalas type)?

It could slant the article just a bit.

That said, I'm a general believer in "where there's smoke, there's fire", especially when most of the criticisms are exactly what came out of Bayern during Klinsmann's tenure.

I think it's become obvious even to those of us predisposed to defend JK that there are some serious problems.

I just don't see what purpose was served by publishing that article. JKs future will still hinge on qualifying for the WC.
The only reason I can give for the players going to the media like this is if they already brought their concerns to JK and felt he was ignoring them. I do sympathize with them to some extent b/c o the way JK tends to put it all on the players.

Will be interesting to see if he makes any changes in response. We should have no loyalty to him if he can't get it fixed.

Because none of us had even heard the name Brian Strauss before Monday.

I'm okay with American soccer journalists having a sharper edge, and writing articles that challenge a bit.

As a whole, I feel like the journalists covering soccer here enjoy their access a bit too much and try to keep things "status quo."

They're like baseball writers from the 30s, 40s and 50s.

That's a good point.
My concern is more that it may hurt our prep for Friday night, not that it makes JK look bad.
My beef is with the players and maybe some of those unnamed others and not with the journalist, who I'm pretty sure I used to follow on Twitter. He's just doing his job.

Well hopefully Deuce and Bradley use this to light a fire under all their asses and we see a motivated team tomorrow night

I loved the article. I usually don't like the anonymous source bit, but Straus was pretty up front with why he want that route, and he's earned the credibility to do it.

I'm less and less concerned about this, though. It's still really early. We'll win on Friday, and probably won't get anything from Azteca, but that's to be expected.

I think we're still fine. I'll get more concerned if we continue to drop points where we shouldn't be going forward.

We have two draws and three losses in our last five matches against Costa Rica. I'm a little less confident than you I suppose.

LINK

Though, the combination of weather, crowd and no Saborio (or limited Saborio) certainly helps our chances.

Having 1 (or no) points through three matches won't be a good place to be.

What's the expected homefield advantage for us 90/10? I know the tickets sold out in like an hour

I haven't read the article, or anything, but Sampson, Arena, Bob, all got plenty of time. I doubt seriously Sunil, who took this long to even get Klinsmann, will pull the trigger this quickly.
