Local grocery breakfast - food dump

I recognize that the cooked food at most local groceries is a money making food dump. But it seems the eggs are runnier and the meat is a bit more "interesting" for lack of a better word. I don't want my bacon "interesting."

No question here. Just a rant I guess.

I have picked up breakfast a several times at one store by me and it is always pretty good.

Tried it at Whole Foods not long ago and it was hot garbage. I have never in my life had bacon that tasted as bad/greasy as that did. And yes, the eggs were runny and the sausage must have dried out or something.

I wasn't necessarily looking for a solution. I was trying to engage people on their experiences with Grocery store breakfasts.

I get it. Make my own bacon and eggs...which is more expensive and takes much more time. This is a message board though.

What store are you talking about? If I have to grab breakfast on the way to work, there are a few gas stations that do ok with sausage biscuits and such.

But yes, the meat does seem "interesting" some times and I end up pulling it off and just eating the buscuit. I stay away from the eggs.

I always find the food bland and greasy. The grits are always a disappoint.

To be clear, I get eggs and meat. I'm fat and don't eat biscuits of grits in an effort to be less fat. And this is a rare thing for me when I haven't brought some boiled eggs to eat on.

I know several gas stations that have biscuits and gravy that are ridiculous. In BR, Matherne's is far better that the other AG stores.

The Shell station on Highland/Perkins at the interstate has a pretty good breakfast and lunch. They do alot of business so it's usually pretty hot and fresh.

It's a Baton Rouge thing.

Hubbens in Port Allen has a pretty good one. I tried it one morning on the way to a dove hunt. Sausage was good, eggs were o.k. (not runny) and the grits were good with some cheddar in them.

It was $2.99, and they called me 'baby', which makes me feel cute/white.

Dorginacs and Whole Foods.

There are lots of little gas stations that serve breakfast. It's good shite when you have a hangover.

Plenty in BR. And if you are eating sausage, biscuits and gravy and grits...it is probably great. But you know that bacon was turning green.

For 6 a.m., those women are pretty chipper.

Start on the right, tell what you want exactly the way you want it, and they hook it up.

If you want cheese on your grits, they can do that.
If you want cheese on your biscuit, they can do that.
If you want the sausage split and placed on the biscuit with cheddar and wrapped, they can do that.

Those women can do it all.

I have eaten gas station b'fast before and some places do a damned good job. Where do you work at that the meal is such a mystery?

Yes I know that many gas stations serve biscuits, meat pies, eggs, grits and such. I have just never heard of grocery stores that do this. Albertson's, Kroger and Brookshire's in on this too?
