In a year or so i'll be buying. I want a center console (preferably Aluminum so i can bang it up, im rough with my shite), I'd like it at least 18 feet long. I'd also like it to be wide on the rear end so i can take it in 1-2 feet of water with no problem (do alot of redfishing in the flats). Don't want a redfish flat pushpole type boat bc i'll occasionally be taking it into lakes (pontch- causeway & twinspans) and occaisionally into the edge of bays (like black bay and larger lakes around delacroix like 4 horse)

Im ok with used as well.

So what would should i get?

Help a brother out. We've always had bassboats growing up so im new to this.

Unless you have money in hand, don't start looking, it will eat you up...

Wait til you are closer to buying. You will get tons of options and only set yourself up for disappointment when you look at boats that you want but aren't ready to buy.

Both of these have the ease and ability to go in 1.5 - 2 feet of water with no problem? even the larger 20 ft models?

Definitely. You may not be able to get up in 1.5 ft of water but you can run in that once you are up.

I had a 18' Express and my friend has one now. They are great boats but there is a big difference in the hulls between the 2. I had the X18 bay with the deeper V. He has the regular center console with a flatter bottom and it is much rougher. Mine rode really well. Wish I still had it.

Just about any aluminum center console will get you in a foot n half of water with no problem.

Now at 18 ft long you gonna get beat to hell in rough water.

So yeah 4 ft longer is good advice.

Nowadays a good aluminum center console cost just as much or more than some fiberglass boats.

lsu mike speaks the truth.

Express may be your best bet...I wanted one but had a hard time justifying the price increase when compared to similar fiberglass bay boats

I have a 20 foot Sea ark and Love it, My buddy I fish with most of the time has the 22 express. I think my boat fishes better and his rides a little better. I dont think you can go wrong with either of these. If you go with the express you have to get the hyper lift hull for the smoother ride.
