Do you have a favorite team of any sport that is not from your home State? If so, how did they end up your favorite?
I'm originally from Louisiana, but my favorite MLB team is the Colorado Rockies and NHL team is the Colorado Avalanche. I was stationed with the Army in Denver the first year of the Rockies and the Avalanche moved there the year after I left, so I became fans of both teams. I've been a Spurs fan since David Robinson's rookie season. I was a kid and liked the fact that he went in the military before going back to play in the NBA. So I've been following them ever since.

Atlanta Braves because I'm a Southerner
ETA: Don't care much about the other ATL teams though

Atlanta Braves - No explanation needed.
Alabama - Dads family originally from North Alabama. Moved to Tennessee. Still had season tickets. Went to all games growing up. Graduated from there.

So you like the Spurs over the Nuggets? How convenient.

My favorite teams are the Baltimore Ravens, SF Giants, and Miami Heat.
I might find new baseball and football teams this year, but I'll probably stick with the Heat the rest of the season.

I was a Spurs fan long before I ever moved to Denver. So I didn't feel the need to change allegiances.

Live in Louisiana but favorite baseball team is the Astros unfortunately haha... lived in Houston for 3 years when I was young because my dads job moved us and that was my first baseball game...loved watching Biggio and Bagwell
Football is the Panthers...distantly related to Jake Delhomme and found out when he was with the Panthers and when I was young I thought it was the coolest thing to be related to an NFL quarterback and even got to meet him a few times awesome guy and if you werent a football fan you would think he was just a normal guy...really down to earth and ever since then been a huge Panthers fan

Cleveland Indians because Albert Belle of LSU got drafted by them when I was a kid.
I also arbitrarily picked the Colorado Avalanche as my NHL team after they won the Stanley Cup circa 1996, since I didn't have an NHL team I cared about.

Penguins because the Thrashers moved and my dad's side of the family is from Pittsburgh. I'll root for the Steelers too if they're not playing Atlanta.

Astros and rockets. They came on the radio in BR when I was a kid and it grew from there.

No baseball in La. - Cubs have always been on TV since I was a youngster. The Braves used to be too. I picked the Cubs because
Ryne Sandberg >>> Dale Murphy.

I knew a guy in college who was from Jamaica, and was a Miami fan in NBA, MLB, college football, but not the NFL. He was a Chiefs fan.
I asked him why and he began to explain, how there was this great linebacker named Derrick Thomas who played for the Chiefs and had a great career and died in a car wreck. And that was his hero growing up and because Derrick Thomas had gone to college at Miami, he became a Chiefs fan.
I informed him that, yeah dude I know who Derrick Thomas was and he didn't go to Miami, he went to Alabama. He argued with me, no way was that correct... until he looked it up.
It kinda wrecked his world.

Saints.
Live on the Alabama Gulf Coast. I've followed the Saints as long as I can remember. It really isn't that far of a drive over to New Orleans from where I live. I've been to plenty of games over the years.
And despite a rough stretch of losing during the late 90's, all of their games still continued to air on TV here. So pretty much, I won't ever miss a game

Orlando Magic, no professional team in Louisiana in the early 90's, and I followed shaq to Orlando and I have been a loyal fan since.
Also the Braves, second verse same as the first except with Chipper and Andrew Jones.
