Vet Pharma Sales

Anyone in here in Vet Pharma sales or know anyone who is? If so, how do you like it? I have a possible job opportunity coming my way. Thanks.

Tough racket. You take your marketing materials and sales pitch to a practice, for a Lunch and Learn for some bull shite CEC's if you are lucky, and they just tear you apart and make you look like a punk in a wet suit by the time you are done spinning your voodoo on vet techs that have zero influence on pharma purchases.

Get into real estate.

The vet pharma reps that call on my wife have a great gig. Sales are sales. Rep a good product and believe in what you're doing and you'll be fine.

re: Vet Pharma Sales

I'm in medical sales and have also done pharma.

I looked into the vet side and the only drawback to me was that the territories were pretty large compared to what I'm used to. It wasn't feasible for me because the amount of overnights every week was a no go for me because of my kids.

That may not be an issue for you but something to consider. Good luck!

It's a good field to be in, less competition than human pharma, but your territory is usually big enough where you will be doing overnight stays. Last year, I stayed 89 nights in a hotel, excluding regional and national sales meetings.

What company are you applying for?

I have talked with the previous rep and he only had 2-3 overnights a month. That is less than what I have now with my current sales job.I have a young daughter so at was a big deal for me. The territory is not really that large which is nice. I would actually be selling prescription diets with a company called Royal Canin. read reviews of the company and it seems to be a pretty good company to work for.

I did it for a year for a veterinary distributor. I had a big territory and got tired of the travel. I did OK money wise but you had to really stay on top of the spiff money and expenses if you expected to get them. There are some things common to commission sales that are very aggravating. That said running around in my car all day seems good at times in retrospect compared to the drama at my current job.

I forgot to add the year I worked I spent at least 2 nights a week out plus meetings etc. it was around 125 nights out. Small town motels get old. I felt like I was checking into jail. I had 2 kids in high school and didn't like missing their games and them in general. To each his own. There were alot of vets that treated me really well.

From what I have seen it's a pretty nice gig. Know someone who does that. I'm sure that there is a dentist who will have a comment on the situation.
