While it seems unamerican to ban things like large sodas, do we really want to continue to foot the medical bills for folks who are fat and diabetic simply because they show no restraint?
No. We shouldn't have to foot the medical bill for anyone else.

No, we dont, thats what we've been saying. Dont foot the bill for it at all. If you do not have the ability to control yourself and are incapable of providing health coverage for yourself, you die. It's tough, but life is tough. Have a bake sale to pay your medical bills. It's not my responsibility.

I'm not a run-for-the-hills political type, but how in the hell can anyone think it's a good thing for the government to exert power over something like this?

You pay for it now. You have always paid for it. No one is denied health care. They may carry you to the "teaching hospital" but they'll drop you off and a few months later you're in bankruptcy court. And we are left to make up for the cost in increased premiums. Great system. All I hear is whining. "let the fakers die" I wonder how many people on this board with this point of view are under insured or not insured.

Good. It's a stupid law anyways, and a pointless extension of government power.

If I want a supersized drink, I'll have one. I can think of numerous other things that cause far more damage than a 44 oz Pepsi.

You realize that this law can easily be circumvented by buying more smaller drinks as opposed to one large drink, right?

That doesn't justify legislating Mr. Pibb.
