I see those large shipping containers on the side of I-49 in Lafayette and have thought about what they would be useful for. Anybody ever used one for a cook shed and storage. Can you cut out for windows and regular doors. Also what can you expect to pay for one.

there is a whole community of people that turn them into living quarters and small houses.

No, I haven't took the prepping that far. I want some thing I can add a porch too and have my pit there beside it. For the lack of a better term, a man cave detached from the house.

Nice, I really don't know what they're going for. If I had to venture a guess if say 3k-8k depending on what kind of shape it's in.

That was me that wants to make a bunker. $3500 is pretty average price for the 40' long ones.

8' I believe. You can google shipping containers for sale in your area and find places.

I've been living in a 40 footer since last June. Even with insulation and a decent window unit they get cold when it's in the single digits outside.

We made one a control room for a cement loading facility. Came out very nice and way ahead of budget.
