Isn't Matt Ryan in the works for a new contract right now? This Flacco deal has got to bode well for his leverage. I want the Falcons to pour money into that bastard so they'll have less to spend around him.

Come on now... They are our biggest rival and stuff like this matters. It's not that bad of a question

Yeah, because the Falcons aren't our biggest rivals and competition in the division at the moment or anything.

ChewyDante (stupid screen name by the way), sure the Falcons will probably overpay Ryan. However, I don't think it will enter into anything ludicrous. The Falcons can leverage that he's never won a meaningful game and they have given him all the pieces to do so(Talented RB's, Top-flight WR's, and a legend at TE). I don't think his contract will end up being too extraordinary. Again, your screen name is childish

It's relevant. Division rival hated more than bloody diarrhea. Carry on.

Deserves just as much if not more than Flacco.

So Matt Ryan...who won his first playoff game this year deserves more than Flaccos who's been to 3 AFC championships, winning one of them en route to a Super Bowl victory?

El oh el.

Matt has had a bette career so far. Check the numbers. Flacco has had no year close to as good as Ryan was this past year.

I think Flacco is good QB. But not better than Ryan and the elite QBs.

What would you value more, having a guy that puts up good regular season stats or a guy that wins in the post season?

I'm not a Ryan hater, I think he is a good quarterback. But, Flacco came in at the same time and has out-shined him when it matters most. Ryan also has had a much better offense around him.

Don't be mad because ChewyDante has a better ring to it than <insert first pet's name> Northwood.

And nothing is as childish as Ontario McCalebb's hand clocked 40 time.

so i see you are into numbers…..
how many Super Bowls has Matt won? now, how many has Joe won?

you can run those REGULAR SEASON numbers all you want, the ONLY number that truly matters is how many rings they've won….

Matt is a great regular season QB, absolutely…. but to discount Flacco like he's a nobody, especially after the postseason he just had, something Matt has never and probably will never do, is ludicrous….

Couldn't you argue that since Ryan is a better qb, he would have taken advantage of having great Ravens defenses more than Flacco, and put them in better positions to win with better records and more playoff home games than Flacco?

The argument could also be made that if Flacco had ended up in Atlanta and put up the numbers he did in Baltimore, the Falcons wouldn't have been making the playoffs and Flacco wouldn't be looked at as a good qb. Where a player ends up has a lot to do with the perception of said player.

And when it comes to playoff success and winning a ring, is Trent Dilfer a better qb than Dan Marino? What about Brad Johnson?
