I haven't turkey hunted in 20 years but last time I did I used a mouth call.

I do, I have some that are called "Delta Queen". Sounds like an old raspy hen.

It's pretty dang deadly.

It will get better,keep at it. I run a Pittman Pro Diamond and a MADD Shipp Wreck. Try keeping it in your mouth and not running the call for awhile,resist the urge to take it out. I had to teach my wife this lesson as well.

There was a guy on here who builds his own slate and stick type calls I think...

I mostly use calls from a local guy with a small company. I picked up one of the flextones a few weeks ago and it sounds pretty good.

If you're close to gagging or throwing up just keep it in your mouth for a while before trying to call with it. You'll get used to it and how to control it, then it will be easier.

Real easy to use mouth call for a beginner and it wont slide down the back of your throat just pin it against the roof of your mouth with your tongue and.. well damn it is hard to explain over text how to use them.. watch some youtube videos they explain it better... Youtube Scott Ellis, he GOOD.

I use the H.S. Strut raspy old hen it's a nice contrast from the slate witch I use
