Had mine removed when I was 32. thought I had died and gone to hell for a couple of days. After that, no problem.

Coater - if you read this please jump in. I have a question.

This shite sucks pretty bad, but is manageable with the pain meds

Easy on those pain meds. They constipated the hell out of you after a few short days. Most times, the constipation is worse that the surgery recovery.

Trying to keep a healthy dose of fiber in the diet, but yeah I've gone once since Thursday. I haven't eaten a lot of solids though

Coater - taking 15ml of 7.5 - 500 every 4 hours. Would every 3 hours be a bad idea?

i'd stick to the instructions they gave you. when was your surgery? one option that i give my adult patients is lidocaine lollipops. nothing is going to take the pain away but it might ease it a little more. maybe ask if that's an option. you usually have to go to a special compounding pharmacy to get it. like others have said you'll get constipated quickly which can lead to straining and subsequent bleeding so your fiber is a good idea.

I have the lollipops and they do okay for numbing. My head, ears throat hurts like hell for that last hour. I bet it's a combo of actual pain and medication dependency, you think?

Thanks for the help.

Eta: surgery was Thursday

My SO is pretty tough when it comes to things like pain and that surgery was HELL on her. Tough tough recovery. She wouldn't recommend it to a soul.

surgery is never painful. they put you to sleep. then, they give you morphine so you don't feel the pain. then, they give you pain killers so you don't feel the pain.

don't get why people worry about pain for surgeries.
He didn't limit the scope of his inquiry to "surgery". In fact, he didn't mention it, per se. He was obviously asking about the whole ordeal, as everyone else understood- bar a UL guy.

Yeah, I didn't bother. Surgery is the least of the problems. The days/weeks afterwards is the issue....simple to understand for most I guess

Maybe try taking less but more frequent doses. See if 10cc every 3 hours works better for you. You're near the end of the "hell" but it will continue to bother you for a couple weeks if you're like most.

This.

I got mine removed when I was 19 because I was getting strep so much.

Worst pain of anything I've ever experienced in my life. I couldn't even swallow my own spit for about 2 weeks.

I took some pain meds on an empty stomach bc I couldn't swallow any food. Another terrible mistake. I dry heaved all day which made the pain 100x worse.

It was the worst pain ever.

If I could go back, I would not even consider doing it.
