I Racing or NASCAR IL?

Always get the itch to play a racing game (stock car specifically) this time of year, just curious if anyone on here plays any?
I have never been much of a PC gamer but I Racing looks like everything I would want as far as an online racer. Only worry I have is finding friends to play against.
NASCAR IL seems to have as many problems as the first version they put out with a patch expected to come out this week. PS3 would be more convenient.

If you can find it :wink wink: Nascar Racing 2003 Season for PC is the gold standard for Nascar games. I am tempted to try to sell my copy b/c of the prices used copies w/ keys fetch on the open market

I bought a steering wheel and pedals I loved this shite so much.
I also suck so bad on anything that isn't a super speedway.
Nothing beats letting a few laps go by at Talladega letting the PC cars get up to speed, going the wrong way, and meeting them head on at 180 MPH on the back stretch causing ridiculous crashes. Then watching the replay with 30 different camera angles and 20 different playback speeds.

Yeah, I liked removing the restrictor plates and roof flaps at and turning the cars around and watching them catch air. Or racing on the stunt track

NASCAR IL is pretty damn fun since they patched it.
But there's also so many badasses and trolls that half the time you can't complete laps until the 3rd green-white-checkerd

I bought the first version they released as soon as it came out, it was fun but there were so many issues with trying to actually get a race started online.
iRacing is doing a $15 for 3 months deal right now so I signed up and I'm gonna give it a shot. Downloaded motionjoy to sync my ps3 controller to my laptop and ran a few practice laps last night, haven't jumped into a rookie race just yet. This really seems like what I was looking for, hoping I can talk a few friends or posters into giving a shot with me and we could run a little mini-circuit. A bunch of the Sprint Cup drivers said that the tracks are realistic in how you drive them and that they use this game to run practice laps at the next track they have to race, which says enough about the game for me.

iRacing is made by the same guys the did NR2003, so if you get to looking for a single player game that doesn't have a monthly fee, that would probably be the best way to go. You may also want to check out rFactor 2. There is a lot of debate over iRacing vs rFactor2, but the consensus is that the AI is better in rFactor and online is better in iRacing.

Wow did not know that, makes sense. I may try and find a copy on Amazon in that case, I know they have guys on operation sports that still play NASCAR 2003 religiously and mod it to have updated tracks and cars.
But I will probably keep my iRacing account if it delivers online like everyone says.
