Gordon has made a bad situation worse for sure, but the haters and the people that are lashing out at the team are largely people that seem to not realize this is year 1 of a rebuild. We are this year where Orlando will be next year. Do you think Magic fans should expect Aaron Afflalo and whoever they draft will make them better than a bottom 5ish team?

I agree with you.

I am not on the big expectations train. I was expecting no playoffs even with a healthy Gordon for this season.

I understand the rebuild. My disappointments have to do with him only.

Who is it distracting, though? I haven't seen many players complain about it. Monty lashed out at the media for constantly pounding on it. Again, the "distraction" is to fans and "media."

Distraction isn't the best word for it, but it likely disrupts the Hornets' game planning, all the in and out, the different roles for the same players on different nights, different emphasis on defense when Gordon is in over Rivers. Other teams have to deal with the Hornets fluctuations too, but it likely affects the worse team more since they need more to go smoothly their way to win.

Monty has been publicly frustrated.

Distraction seems like one of those media words that now means something close to nothing in some cases.

Shouldn't you be "meeting a client" for drinks by now? It's almost 10 AM.

i think i've been fair on Monty...i like him. just acknowledging that his track record is not extremely impressive on paper, and he shouldn't be untouchable.

Admittedly, i've been getting annoyed with the Gordon situation. It's just a constant distraction going on 2 seasons now. I don't want to just give him away, but i think getting some value for him and moving on will end up being best for everyone.

New Year's Resolution. No earlier than noon (or thereabouts . . . 11:30, maybe).

Next year will say a lot. We can't make excuses again next year. Lets hope something changes because there is no improvement to get excited about at this point. AD will be great and if Gordon actually plays a season but that has yet to be shown.

I was told we have enough cap space next yr for 2 max contracts. But, we won't sign 2 max contract worthy players because N.O. isn't an attractive enough destination. We don't have the reputation as a place to go to win, and we are too small a market.

With all this talk around the league about Monty being this great young coach, I want to see max worthy players want to come play for this great young coach. We have some decent pieces (AD, Ryan, Gordon, although I don't believe in him, he is a very nice player).

If we can't sign upper end talent in the off season, and we sit in this stagnation as a franchise, then what other excuses will y'all have for Monty? We can't go on like this anymore.

Gordon has been a POS with that said I expected more than 19 wins at the point with the lineup we have.

The LeBrons and Melos are never going to come here anymore than they would go to OKC. For the Pelicans to have enough success to become attractive they are going to have to be good enough that they don't need a #1. Give it 2 years and I think they'll be good enough to attract the #2s though. Looking at the 2014 FA list though you might be disappointed, the 2nd tier is kind of thin. We're talking Granger, Deng, DWade if Miami breaks up, Rudy Gay. In 2015 you could probably attract Rondo, Tony Parker, Afflalo. The Pelicans future star power is most likely to come via draft or trade, not FA.

I love when people give coaches no credit for winning with talent but all the blame for losing without talent.

You saw what he could with talent on the roster...

Lol get the 7th seed, take the Lakers to 6 and bench a great 6th man in Thornton who could have helped?

I am not the biggest Monty fan but some of you guys need to be more patient. This team does not have enough offensive weapons for Red Auerbach to win 35 games. Moves need to be made to acquire more talent at the guard and wing positions. Need scorers!

Similar to San Antonio? That's who I keep thinking of when I try to compare what the Pelicans need to be in the future to be a serious contender

We also saw what Trent Johnson did with talent on the roster at LSU...damn near beat UNC.

Just saying...

and Trent Johnson was fired because he couldn't get any talent, which is one of the responsibilities of a COLLEGE coach.
