I would hope the Ben V. statements are jokes--he was horrible. I like your team, but Tyrus thomas cant hold a candle to John williams, Dwayne Scales, or Ricky Blanton. If you want to go way back, Al"Little Apple" Sanders was a great rebounder. Of course, who could forget Kenny higgs or Floyd Bailey. A good back up point guard could be Derrick taylor.

Brian Green. Every team needs its token bench warmer walk on.

Being objective LSU's all-time starting 5 could matchup with anybody else's starting 5 but some of the basketball powers benches would be way better. But for a football school pretty damn good.

Best five is right. Bench should have had Ricky Blanton ahead of Tyrus Thomas. Ricky led us to a Final Four also and he was here four years, not just one. Case could also be made for John Williams, Clarence Caesar, Wayne Sims, Vernel Singleton and others.

John Williams is a definate. Also, throw a bone to Jerry Ice Reynolds and Dewayne Scales.

John Williams would definitely be in my top 8...Dude was incredibly smooth & gifted for a big man. JW would be a for sure one and done in today's world.

Starting 5 is right on. Stack me against any other school's all time list. But you have to include John Williams and Dwayne Scales in the second 5 off the bench.

No John Williams?

Seriously, John Williams is in the starting 5 instead of Rudy.

Pete and CJ would be the only players who could make the UCLA team. We wouldn't fare well

Disagree.

Lew Alcindor and Bill Walton would have their hands full with Shaq and Petit, and those are their best 2...

"Pete and CJ would be the only players who could make the UCLA team. We wouldn't fare well."

Probably true but Shaq and Petit are no slouches. In fact, Petit had a much better NBA career than Walton, who was diminished by injury. With Shaq and Petit, you have guys who truly fit the 4 and 5 spots, while Lew and Walton were really both 5's. Plus, Shaq and Petit are both on the NBA's all-time top 50 team. I think they would hold their own with CJ and the Pistol in the backcourt!

I like your team but serious consideration needs to be given to Dewayne Scales, Willie Sims, John Williams, and Stanley Roberts. Not sure who I'd change out.

Uh u gotta have Rudy in your starting lineup Jerry Reynolds despite the hype had no outside shot.

For stats CJ is in there but if this team really played a game you would have to start Ethan Martin. He was a phenomenol distributor at the point and he was a great defensive point guard could take the ball from any pg he played against. Al McGuire said Ethan had some of the quickest hands he had ever seen and while Pete was a great passer neither he or CJ played a lick of defense.

Impossible not to have Willie "the supersub" Sims coming off the bench. His senior year he was introduced with the starting lineup as the best 6th man in the country.

Lastly no LSU all star team should go out on the court without an enforcer and Greg "the Cookieman" Cook was the baddest man ever to don the purple and gold! If he was playing when Shaq was tackled by Carlos Groves of Tennessee Dale Brown would have never had to go out on the floor and grab Groves Cook would have already put him down!! Fact!!!!

This. And also, btw, with Kansas, Duke and any other powerhouse.

It's an absolute shame we've slid so far recently, this should be an annual 20 win, tourney program.

Just for the sake of having an enforcer on the bench- gotta put Jose Vargas on the list somewhere. Is he better than the others listed-no. But there's something to be said for bringing in a lunatic who might goal-tend an opponent's free throw, just for intimidation. You can bring Jose in for 5 minute stretches and just muck up the other teams' rhythm!
