This would be the first gun my wife has owned. Little concealed carry Taurus .380

A buddy of mine owns it and is willing to sell it for $175. He said there have maybe been 15 rounds put through it.

My only hangup-there's no safety

Would this be a good buy?

TIA

Has on of the best reliability ratings of a .380. 175 bucks is pretty dang cheap

I do have a question for you.

Why does your buddy have a pink piece?

According to what? Serious question, not bashing.

No. No. No.

It will not be easy nor fun to shoot. She will hate it.

Own it - it's a bad mofo

I had a compact .380 and hated shooting/practicing with it.

For $175 that's not a bad price, but that's not a very good gun. If you really want her to have it for defense it's worth a bit more research and investment.

If you're set on .380, try Ruger LCP.

so, the consensus is: the recoil will be too much for her to handle due to the size and design of the gun?

Those little guns are just hard to grip, have a terribly long trigger pull, and are usually quite snappy.

I had a LCP and hated it bc of that
