You guys realize that player for player trades are very rare in the NFL, right?
We're being sarcastic. No one seriously think we will get AJ Green or Geno Atkins

or we can always keep him and let Pierre go

Also. Sproles basically does Thomas job
I'm an Ivory supporter. I don't really want to see him go. But it's unfair to him to rot on the bench. Regardless of his injuries etc, he is a talent.

Yes, that's why I suggest they take Smith, Harper, Vilma and we'll call it even.

Would be great if he could stay healthy. He is not durable at all

uhm, no
Care to elaborate? They can both run in between the tackles and are both very good in space. I give the edge to Thomas between the tackles, but an edge to Sproles in space.
They're very similar with slight edges to each aspect. Again, Thomas is one of my favorites around here, but we can't be rolling with 5 RB's. If we let Ivory go, we'll be left with Ingram (whos our future feature back IMO), Thomas, and Sproles. Sproles is already 29 I believe and Thomas will be at the 30 mark soon as well. In another year or two you'll have to draft or nab another guy in FA anyway.
I'd love to keep them all, but I just don't know how realistic that is with Payton back. Cadet is the first to go, which I think we can all agree.

I don't think he was hurt at all last year. However, they barely used him.

Too many good backs in this years draft! But a player for player trade would be nice.

You really think we are drafting a running back?

ut Ivory is cheaper and younger. Also. Sproles basically does Thomas job.
Wow.
First, Thomas being older than Ivory means absolutely nothing with Ivory getting hurt every other game. Thomas is getting 2.1 million and 2.5 million.
Second, Sproles and PT aren't near the same running backs. The compliment each other nicely. PT is an every down, do anything back. Sproles is a 3rd down back with elite speed. Can he run between the tackles? Yea, but that doesn't mean he is an inside runner.
PT can catch, block, and run over people.

because that is each of their specialty. Thomas breaks/evades almost more tackles than anyone in the NFL and is a traffic and screen specialist. The only running backs that rate higher than PT are Adrian Peterson, Alfred Morris, and CJ Spiller according to PFF.
Sproles is more of a receiver than a runner

Ivory is a logical trade target.
We won't get a 2nd for him...but getting a mid round pick that we can bundle with a late rounder or two to move up to the 2nd might be doable.

Change of pace to Green-Ellis? If they get Ivory, he should start and get most of the carries. He is much better than Green-Ellis. Ivory will have some huge rushing seasons if he goes to another team.
Posted on 2/14/13 at 2:19 pm to BarbeTiger
No we won't draft a RB but Cincy will!

I'll say it like this. I think I'd be more emotionally invested in PT than Ivory leaving..but I think from a production standpoint I would regret Ivory more. I also have a feeling he would have a great season as a main back for someone.

Ellis has shown he can carry the load for a team so its not a crazy idea.
Benny Ellis is very under rated

Really? I read that Lawson was a great run defender last year.
