Bringing the family to the spring game this year, 5 year old boy dying to see LSU. Any tips or can't miss while we are there? Good places to get autographs and such? Places to eat? I was born and raised in Krotz Springs but haven't spent much time in Baton Rouge in years.

Went last year, it was so humid/hot we left at half..i dont sweat much but when i got up from my seat my butt was soaked. Not sure about autographs though. Good places to eat nearby would be Chimes, Sammy's, Walk-ons, George's.

I agree, it would help the attendance also

i'd go with chimes or walk-on's (for a good gameday type atmosphere).

drinking all those beers before the game was a bad idea. i was dehydrated like a beast.

Took wife and twin 6 year old daughters last year. I was the only one that made it past the half. They were burned and dehydrated. We won't make trip this year. The game should start at 6-7pm.

Anybody know when they announce the times for events?

If your boy is anything like mine, get there really early so he can enjoy all the festivities. We left at halftime as well, but he really enjoyed the band, the snow cones, seeing Mike, the games, etc. beforehand. By the time the game actually got underway, he was ready to go anyway.
Enjoy it if you go!

I have taken my son the past 2 years. He was 4 and 5. Sat there the whole time and didn't say squat which is extremely strange for him as he can't sit still on the couch. It was hot last year but the key to that is to get into the stadium early ( when they open the gates) and get up to the highest section before the suites. It gets shaded there early. That and the frozen Lemonade.
As far as things to do, join mikes kids club. You can get an all access tour of the stadium. You go into the locker room, press room, and onto the field. They also have space walks, face painting and lunch for all members. It's like 12 bucks one time. You are a member until he is 12. They give you a t shirt and and some other things as well.

Do they send out an email for that? I signed my kid up about 6 months ago. He recently got to run practice drills with the men's basketball team, which was pretty awesome.

Bring sun screen, sun glasses, hats, and money to buy drinks. It's like being under a broiler. You may find yourself bored. It's not a real game. Should be some Honey's to check out though.

They should but not sure. You can call them and ask though. They offer all sorts of things through the year. You can run the bases during baseball season too

I know that. You know that. Everybody knows that. Everybody but those marketing genius's in the LSU Athletic Department.
Hey guys, (LSUAD) I'll let yall in on a little secret. LSU fans/alums don't like attending football games in Tiger Stadium during the daylight hours. (Even Spring Games) Have it at night and have a real game against a squad of ex-LSU football players. This will generate interest and actually put butts in the seats. People are tired and bored with the glorified scrimmage.

To do:
Mike's habitat.
Sit on west side if PM game - higher in the bowl the better.
Often a hoops game to catch a piece of (not sure if we're home with boys or girls that day).
LSU Dairy - get Ice Cream.
Football operations center - good pics.
Pic on the bronze tiger in front of one of the venues (PMAC, TS or the Box).
LSU Football All Americans plaza on West side of TS.
LSU Sports Shop or LSU Bookstore - get the lad something.
Eats:
Walk-Ons!!
Chimes is overrated for their food.
Pizza at Pastime - N of campus towards downtown.
Burgersmith on Perkins @ Acadian.
Mellowmushroom on Burbank.
Have fun, bring a camera.

Hi All,
I was reading Dandy Don's website on Friday and Scott mentioned there are some rumblings of the game being at night.

Has anyone heard about that?
I'm an Opelousas native, '88 grad and now 21 years of being a Texas Tiger who along with my husband, nieces and nephews were planning on attending this year's game.
We've never been to a spring game. Do we need to purchase tickets for the game?
Thanks.
