Halftime. Vote.

A. He's doing well.
B. He's doing decent.
C. He's doing his final soccer match of his career because I'm going to kill him in his sleep tonight.

A.

Because its his first (important match) , if he improves marginally over the course of the next two years the world cup is fine

Obviously would still prefer sir darke but I won't mute it

No choice for, "He's doing poorly"?. . . I'd vote B anyways.

B) they have a weird setup because he is callin out the passes but it seems hes also expected to be the color guy. Warren Barton isnt filling the space in between passes very well at all

May have to up that to an A with the start to the second half

He was alright I guess. I still think Fox is stupid for trying to force him down our throats by making him do a sport he has never done before.

He called the game a bit too much like a radio broadcaster at times. A few of the nuanced (to me, big) plays he didn't mention at all, but that was probably from a lack of experience more than anything. A lot better than most of the non-Tyler/Darke PBP guys. Overall, I thought he was quite solid. Considering that was his first big broadcast, I was impressed. Saw someone (I think @runofplay) say something like this, and I agree: if he's merely at that same level he showed today for the World Cup, things will be just fine. Considering he's very likely to improve by then, I think it could be very good.

Not as good as John Motson, but way better than JP DDelacamera(sp).

I think he did fine. He and Barton have to work on working together though

Barton was too busy trying to tone down his enthusiasm for DeGea's play.

Somebody must have jumped his shite for all his dumbarse comments of recent, and was trying to make amends, albeit it must have caused him some tremendous internal strife.

Cons: Used the phrase "crosses over" too much. I'm not even 100% certain what that means in soccer verbiage. I assume he means "cuts across the defender."

Pros: He let the game breathe without talking too much, which many American PBPers fail at.

Overall rating: Not Ian Darke, but would listen again. Could do without Warren Barton.

The important part will be finding a good color commentator.
