| Vacation destination in continental US (Posted on 2/12/13 at 6:44 pm)
No Disney, no Destin, no Gulf Shores, etc. Two kids, ages four and seven and a wife that puts out like an ATM dispenser. Help me find my vacation destination for the summer. Simply can't make up our minds. I am thinking rest and true relaxation but a part of me believes the kids would enjoy New York.

California has nice scenery. Lot to do around the SF Bay Area with Alcatraz, Sausalito, all the cool shite in the city, Monterey/Big Sur/Carmel to the south, maybe even venture farther south to Hearst Castle, catch a baseball game at AT&T Park, etc.

Charleston really intrigues me. Wanted to do this last year and ended up in Naples, FL which i thoroughly enjoyed.

The Florida Keys, another good recommendation. And I believe Southwest flies there.

Southwest flies into both San Francisco and Oakland. It's easy to get to downtown SF from either airport using BART (subway system).

Yes, there are a lot of gays in San Francisco, but it's also pretty easy to avoid those areas of town. Basically don't go to the Castro. Even if you do venture over there, they're not going to try to sodomize you.
