Yea. Happened a few years before I went there. What about it? It happened right there on the corner on Whitney in Algiers.

That's two that went to Mississippi State that came home and got caught up in street life, the other was Reggie Wilson from Curtis, who signed with LSU, transferred to MSU then dropped out and died on the streets.
Ike's Dad is a Westbank legend, Holly Wilson, from WJ.

Kinda, he was on most of the Papers' top 20 or so, but being a veer QB that really had no passing skills, he was recruited as an Athlete. MSU got a few kids from NOLA back then, including Johnny Curtis and Colby McCollough. I believe Pete Jenkins was at MSU at the time and he was an incredible recruiter. Rivals and Scout weren't big yet.

Holly Wilson, Ike's dad was one of the best that never was. Severely torn lee knigaments vs McD35 2 or 3 games into his senior year.

In fact I think Holly's backup signed with LSU..... many folks that I knew that played against Holly that played in college also thought he was one of the best backs they ever played against. Knee injury in 74 very different from knee injuries nowadays.

Ike was floating on the fringe long before he went down in a hail of gunfire on whitney ave. In fact I think he was asked to leave Shaw and finished at Higgins.

Ike was as good of an athlete as ever played at Shaw - this is from many coaches for and against.

Kid had trouble meeting ACT requirements, turned in for drugs by Shaw coaches, etc so I don't think that he was high on anyone's list. But, he was talented.

Wasn't he there right before Chucky Parquet. Chucky was the qb when I got there and Ryan Clark was still a qb.

well before Ryan Clark and Parquet.

Carlos Jones was the QB behind Ike. Ike was after Vance.

Sounds like his dad was the football version of Earl "The Goat" Manigault

Ok, that sounds right. He was before my time, but I remember his name. Derrick came in after Chucky and Ryan went to safety.

derrick was the starting QB in 97, 96, 95 and 94. Juma Elow was the starter going into the 94 season but got hurt in scrimmage at hahnville.

Derrick was the 2nd 4 year starter at QB for shaw.
