Survival trips?

I've been watching a lot of survival shows lately on Netflix and have found myself pretty enamoured.
Anyone ever done a group trip/excursion out to take a stab at survival? If so, where'd you go? And did you use a company/guide?
Would be sweet to stay on an island like Aitutaki for a week living off the land.

I think a tropical island would be sweet. It would definitely test your skills. I couldn't do the cold though. That would be miserable.

Yeah, I like the tropical islands surrounded by shallow waters that are poisonous reptile/insect free

So just get dropped off with no food?
If you don't survive is the trip free?

The idea seems cool in theory but in practice I'm not sure I'd like the idea of nearly starving, dehydrating, and exhausting myself for several days all while risking bodily injury and possibly death and on top of everything paying somebody for it.
No thanks.

Just fly into the Brooks range. Have a pilot drop you off on some unnamed lake and pick you up a week later. Probably will not see a sign of man.

Done a few of them all in the states though. 7 day stints at a time no food no water minimal supplies. Actually looking back on it they were good times and I would encourage everyone to try one.The longest I've ever gone without food on one was 110 hours.
After 2 days you don't really feel hungry but you do get a few cramps. I've eaten bugs, pot bellied minnows and just about every part of an animal. A downside even today I never get hungry and somedays I forget to eat and is not healthy.

We used to do them all the time. About 4 trips a year, each about 5 days minimum in length. Rules were simple...NO food and NO tent...only can bring what you can carry in a standard backpack...Of course, it all started with watching survival shows and saying, "I wouldn't have done that, etc" eventually leading to "Oh? You think you could do better?" "Damn right I could!" "Proof it" LOL....we always went to Federal land, not WMA...the difference is that on state land you can't (or aren't supposed to) just be able to walk in, camp anywhere, or have a fire in a place other than a designated campsite. On federal land or in National Parks you can. For instance, you can camp, hunt, fish, and start a fire anywhere in Kisatchie (according to their rep that we talked to prior to doing the survival trips)...However, that's a double edged sword as a majority of Kisatchie is pine forest, which in survival terms. Means that it's quite barren of substantial game and wild edibles as compared to other ecosystems like hard wood forest and brackish marsh, etc. If you're thinking about doing one, go for it. It's a quite rewarding experience that will give you a better appreciation of what our forefathers had to do to keep their families and selfs alive.

That's why I'd like to do more of a tropical island. Plenty crabs/crustacean, fish, etc and cocoanuts for hydration.
And as mentioned before, no venomous insects/reptiles(though they tend to be infested with rats).

Ever just thought about a wilderness leadership school? Basically the same things, but with a group, usually and mentors.

That would be great as long as I had a good supply of food and beer. A hot horny woman would improve the situation as well.

I think it would be great, but I'd need some help finding edible shellfish...
Actually, I may need lots and lots of help...
