Yeah, he could do it, but he'd need 20 shots, turn the ball over constantly and get carved on defense. Just like his stint with wiz, he'll get his, but wouldn't help the team make the playoffs

Lets face it. If the guy could still play, he would be. But he's 50 and even he knows its over. The MJ hero worship is beyond ridiculous.

Could he? Sure.

Would it be good, pretty, or efficient basketball?

Absolutely not.

Under the absolute best case scenario, you ask him to defend the least athletic 3s in the league, or try to body up on the undersized 4s, who he will stretch out to the perimeter on the offensive end. A good creator will get him enough shots in volume to get to 10 points-- but he'll get caved in by big men with any appreciable skill on the defensive end.

Assuming he was in playing shape, I think he could get 10 ppg in a limited role on any team in the NBA.

It's impossible to know without seeing him play.

But fadeaway jumpers are very difficult to stop. And that was Jordan's specialty. So if he can still hit that shot, he could score some points.

He can also let others facilitate and he can catch and shoot or drive on slow rotations.

My point is, he may be able to average 10 per game... but I think he'd be a liability to the team overall.

Sure but only if that was the main objective for him being there

And he wouldn't be helping the team win

MJ could suit up tonight and he wouldn't be the worst player in the NBA. That is saying something.

He could still shoot. He'd get annihilated on the defensive end though.

Well it is saying something. It's saying something that probably isn't true though.

He would definitely be worse than any of the starters

I think that he could, although whoever he was guarding would probably score lots more.

No shite.

He wouldn't sniff the starting lineup on any team in the association. He could fill a very limited role though, and there are definitely some garbage arse players in the league today who aren't even good defenders and can't shoot.

He could average 10 plus if that was the team's objective but that would degrade his legacy.

If he remade himself into a three point shooting specialist he wouldn't be a liability on the offensive end but he'd still be dead weight on defense

Sure he could, just get his minutes in the 2nd and 3rd qtrs when the bench's rotate in and they don't play defense like they do in the last 2 minutes.

That's only 5 made shots a game, not counting free throws

This would be the key. If he could learn to shoot the corner 3 like Stackhouse has done this season, then I could see it as a possibility. But he was a 30% 3pt shooter during his career, and without more facts I don't think he could.

People on this board are being ridiculous with their expectations for a 50 year old. The game has changed a lot in 10-15 years. Defenses have changed a lot in 10-15 years. It would take him 12-15 shots to get 10ppg without 3s, and there's no way he'd get that many shots off in a game on any team, unless the sole purpose was to get him 10ppg. Jordan is great, but let's stop with the John Henry tales.

So could every old NBA player with a decent shot.

Problem is he would be abused on defensive end. There is a reason he is retired.
