| I need a classic car rebuilt (Posted on 2/9/13 at 1:38 pm)
I have a 66 mustang that I took apart about 5 years ago. I never got it back together and I am debating on selling it or restoring it. Does anyone have any idea of a place to take it in the southeast Louisiana area to restore it if I choose that route? I have all the parts just need the labor.

289? I had one about 15 years ago that was in good shape but still a money pit. Ended up trading for a truck. I kick myself everyday

My coworker is finishing up rebuilding a 69. He did it all himself though.

Those cars are shite and literally not worth the trouble to restore. I would gladly take it off your hands to save any future embarrassment.

Find someone on here who knows how to get in touch with Wracy Cheney from Gonzales. He's building his business now (from a lifelong hobby). Also, there's a shop in BSL- Classic Car Restoration right b/f you get to 90 from the I-10 exit. If you really want a nice car, put it on the trailer, make a weekend out of it, and haul it to Pot o' Gold customs in Colorado Springs- long drive, but we found this dude on the HAMB and he finished a 46 Ford for a friend of mine last year- on time and within budget.

I would give this some long, hard, thought. Is the car worth restoring? Is there some sentimental value? Does it have any rare options? You can usually buy well-sorted and restored examples for a lot less that you can put this one up on its feet. Just food for thought.

It was the1st car I actually paid for, but I can see where you are going. Restoration work is rather expensive. I have thought of the option of buying one already put together for under 10k.

I see what you mean, it means something to you. On the plus side, parts are cheap and easy to find. (kinda like my first wife) Labor is the killer. Enough of these cars have been done that real labor estimate should be easy to get so at least you should know what you are in for. Check Hemmings to see what comparable cars are selling for.
