My hand is 5" wide. I've read your post history and no way it is that big

You can get that Glock online or at a store. They are some of the most popular handguns in the world.

Another plus of the G20 is that it has a 15 round magazine. I usually carried with 10 in it and had an extra one in my Camelback. Shoot them with your 6-shooter and well, that's it. Better hope you can hit it in a good spot. I had an extra magazine that I could get completely loaded up in 5 seconds

The ones I have encountered run up in little spurts. They charge, stop, charge more, stop. Kind of like a bear. Only time I have seen them charge straight ahead was when someone was running from them

I threw up every day for the first week. Only time I ever had a hard time again was when the humidity was 145% and I was walking in wet shrubs in the shade. Almost couldn't drive home.

My wife has small hands. I picked her out for that feature alone.

Don't buy a 10mm Glock IMO. If I was going non-standard caliber in Glocks it would be .357 Sig.

If it's just going to be for pig defense I'd say the 10mm would be a good pistol round for you. Ammo can be a little pricey, so it's not going to be a weekend at the range gun though. For something a little less pricey to shoot either a .357 revolver or a .45ACP semi-auto.

10mm > .357 when you use the right loads

I probably saw around 10 pigs so far in the woods but I'm usually over 100 yards away from them. So the consensus is a 357 magnum? What brand would you recommend? If it helps, I would like to get a conceal weapons permit and also take it to the gun range ever once in a while.

Also, 10mm can shoot flatter than a 357 to 100yds. I shot I guess it was a 4" group at 100. My dad has gone 150 when he had it scoped

I posted the S&W b/c you said $1000, but I would probably buy a Taurus to be honest. Spend the balance on 100 rounds of 22LR.

My default is a HK45, 45c or USP45.
However based on your use, I would probably go with a .357, probably a BlackHawk.

I carried one for many years for just that reason.

I would choose a pistol that you'd be comfortable with for home defense too. Chances are you'll never have pigs chase you again; therefore, get a gun you'd have other use for too.

A .357 could still be a great choice here but I would go with a G17 or G23 for what I said above.

Should lightning strike twice, you'd be able to manage that situation even with a 9mm. If you get stuck in a tree and the pig keeps you at bay you'll eventually get a good shot with that many.

I wouldnt have thought of it, but this sounds like the winner. You'll get more shots than you would in a 357mag

Yesterday while walking on an old logging road I came across three pigs. One of the pigs charged and I haul arse into a deer stand. I waited for over 40 minutes for the pigs to leave.

Did you yell at the pigs to identify yourself as a human? The reason why I ask is that is very rare for a pig to charge without some provocation. Usually the biggest, baddest hog will run if it knows it is dealing with a human. The times I have been run up a tree have usually involved having squirrel dogs getting a bunch of hogs riled up and then running straight back at me with the herd of hogs in tow.

In any event, if you have no handgun experience and if you don't do a lot of shooting of any kind, you are much better off retreating than trying to stand your ground against charging hogs. The chance of you getting a instant kill shot are very remote and you are just allowing them to get closer to you, eliminating the possibility of a safe retreat.

With a revolver, yes. I would definitely not want to be limited to 6 fricking shots when a pig or group of pigs us charging me. The more, the merrier, but that gets to a point where it is heavy. That's why I only carry 10+1 when I am in the woods.

IIRC, a 357 glock is a 15+1 just like the 10mm. I can definitely drop my mag, drop my bag, and have another magazine loaded before someone with a revolver

They saw me clear as day. If I yelled anything it would me cussing and backing up slowing facing them. My problem is sometimes I walk next to recently cleared timber and have absolutely no where to hide or run. I have shot handguns before and I duck and dove hunt for the past 10 years.

Same with my ol lady she can make anything look freakishly big.

OP I'd go ruger gp100 in .357 or redhawk 44 if you wanna pack a little more arse.

If six shots don't get you out of danger, a few more wont help.

Edit
But I would pick the G20 over a 357. Biggest drawback is expensive to shoot. It should be lighter to carry than a 357 revolver.
