As much as dancing to play off falling down some stairs constitutes a legit dance party.

I know you have some family or friends that work for Entergy. Have some inside info?
The little bit that I know about the whole thing is that it looks like Entergy and SMG were trying to do the right thing. I heard like 12 mil was spent on the electrical upgrades, alone. Feeders and all major equipment feeding the dome were changed. Where the problem lies is that what caused the abnormality in the auto-sensing breaker to cause the trip.

Multiple Fam/Friends have confirmed what was tweeted: the dome never lost the feed(some people were on the MSB saying Entergy didn't order enough power ) Issue was in the Switchgear which route power from the substation to the two sides of the dome. Think of it as an extension cord with two surge protectors w/ breakers plugged in. I'll have to ask my dad if they know if the "abnormality" was upline or downline yet. Judging by what happened and the responses and press releases, I'm betting it was on the downline (Superdome) side. If it would have been a power surge from the grid or power would have been lost, both feeds to the dome would have gone out and all the lights would've been off.
One early report cited decay of the wires, but thats the reason the dome replaced their stuff. New equipment was completed first of Dec, so they had the NO Bowl, Saints/Panthers, and the Sugar Bowl go off without any issues.
I don't think its some big conspiracy or blame game, sometimes, honestly, shite happens. Hiring the engineer to do the assessment is pure PR to help out all parties. I'll be shocked if the report doesn't come out along the lines of "isolated incident" and praising all parties for the quick response. (Remember, the lights started coming back on less than 5 mins of the first outage. They had already rerouted power to the backup.)
Also, Hannegriffs show yesterday pointed out something I forgot about. The NFL basically runs the facility starting like 8 days prior to the Superbowl. They bring in their own managers, facilities folks, and engineers. The league basically owns the dome until after the game. If somebody forgot to flip a switch, it's probably a guy from the league that did so. Kinda meshes with the very clandestine public response on this from the NFL. The league is not gonna come out and say "Our bad. Gomer here forgot to press a button."

Yep.
I say no big deal. But, people need something to talk about. Hopefully, this gets squashed soon.

Think about it. Take a quick look at the number of events the Dome has hosted. The idea that NOLA should not have big events over something like this is just absurd. Steven A Smith and Peter King can EAD.

WTF did he say?
And yes, we have made this a legit power thread...

As for the brownout, I don't know what to say, other than a 34-minute delay in the middle of the biggest event of the year on the sports (and television) calendar is going to be a factor when New Orleans comes up for a Super Bowl the next time. Not good when you have a problem keeping the lights on.

It's called Beyonce's team/manager didn't recognize that their show was using too much power and shutting down the dome twice the week before, and kept the same show regardless.
