Depends on what how complex your stuff is. Anywhere from free to $400ish for most people.

It's better to just do it yourself using an online helper It's nice to have some idea of where your money is going and what you can deduct As your situations change each year, it gets a little more complicated but you learn as you go I've done mine for the last 6-7 years by myself

I always use the HR block software. My tax situation is usually the following: - 2 W2s - 1 1099-MISC - 1 1099-INT My deductions/credits/adjustments include mortgage interest, teacher expenses, child care costs, state income tax, student loan interest, child tax credit, donations, and property taxes. Usually enough deductions to itemize. The software is pretty simple. H&R Block in person would charge a lot for my situation, and the software is like $30 with 5 free federal efiles.

Just do turbotax. I've got a 20% off link if anyone wants it.

If you just have a simple return you can get federal done free until the fifteenth of this month and state will be 39.99. Might come out cheaper than with the software. I would second just learning to do it on your own with the software. It's good to know and in your situation not that complicated.

Turbotax is foolproof. I've been using it for the last 4 years.

Someone I know went to H&R block with retirement income and one w-2. They charged them $130 just for that. You would pay basically the same going to a CPA and you are getting someone to do your taxes that knows a lot more.
