quote:

According to search warrants that were filed on Thursday Homeland Security Investigations confiscated nearly 900 firearms from Adams’ home, 548 handguns and 317 rifles. They also seized 599 pistols and revolvers from his office.
Neighbors say that he was a firearms collector and some indicated that he was also a licensed gun seller. No confirmation of that has been forthcoming.
While having been watched for years and no charges filed as they seized Adam’s firearms, Federal investigators are saying that they are investigating him for gun smuggling, tax evasion, violating importation laws.

quote:

Kurt Nimmo points out, “New Mexico does not regulate or specifically restrict the possession of firearms. Owners are not required to register or license firearms with the state.

How can you raid a persons how, take 1,500 guns and NOT present any charges against them?

A search warrant is supposed to help gather evidence for the charges..... I thought anyway.

Thats what I thought too. Now I suppose its just a simple bump in the road that probably wont even be needed soon.

And why DHS? Seems like the ATF would be on him if he was illegally selling guns.

Patriot. Act.

I'm guessing the Patriot Act because DHS, not ATF, conducted the raid, and because it seems the language in that act can be interpreted any way the gov't damned well pleases. They can lock you up with no charges, so I guess they can raid your home and take your property with no charges.

The person raided is a gun collector and legal gun dealer...

He imports old World War II type firearms form South American countries and resells them to collectors.

Wasn't he also the one that was in on the big Broomhandle find a few years back?

If they can raid his house and take his legal weapons than they can come to yours with the same pretense and say the samethings.

merica, frick yeah!!!

This is a jewel

Court documents reveal federal agents were watching Adams for years and that some documentation was missing “to determine to whom Adams [was] selling or exporting his firearms.”

So when will they raid Holder's office?

It won't matter if they charge him or not. They will end up revoking his FFL and then bankrupt him in legal fees as he tries to get his livelihood returned to him.

More to come in the future.

Agree... I'd love to see how many, if any of his guns he gets back if no charges are ever filed.

You can replace the 1,500 with what the Gov would call evidence.

Happens all the time. They will do a search warrant, collect evidence and then come back and indict.

Says he is being investigated for tax evasion, importation laws and gun smuggling so it would make sense that they took the weapons.

What might be worse are the sheeple who will say the gov had to come in because "Who needs all those guns".

So, well comfiscate your possessions and figure out what to charge you with later? Is he under arrest? Well, no, he's not been charged with anything, but has had his guns seized. That is really scary stuff.

Just to play Devil's advocate. Let's say the IRS suspects you on tax evasion, money laundering and some other stuff. They come to your home and seize your tax records, then go through them. How is this any different?

So that means you did not understand what Elcid wrote or you really didn't read his explanation?

Oh, I both read it and understood it all too well. I just don't happen to think that it's justified or in keeping with what I think America is all about, innocent until proven guilty, and while you can argue that it's for investigative purposes, it reeks of the same thing I despise about the heavy handed tactics of other federal agencies, and you can certainly take down information, take pictures, and investigate his weapons, but unless you can charge the man, I don't like the fact of taking his weapons, if for no other reason than it is an open door policy to do that to anyone, hold their guns for an indefinite time and claim its under investigation. For how long? Well, how long do you want to investigate it? How that affects the man's livelihood? Who cares?
