re: The New Full Employment Numbers

I thank God every day that I am now my own boss. The economy needs to pick up soon, though, or my business will begin to suffer. Unfortunately I rely upon discretionary spending for my livelihood.

Quick google search pops up ton... This is the low end one

quote:

In an article on the June employment report the NYT told readers that the economy needs 150,000 jobs per month to keep pace with the growth in the population. Actually, the Congressional Budget Office projects that the underlying rate of labor force growth is now just 0.7 percent annually. This comes to roughly 1,050,000 a year or just under 90,000 a month.

This is fortunate since the economy has created less than 1.8 million jobs in the 16 months since it first began adding jobs again in February of 2010. If we needed to create 150,000 jobs a month then we would have needed 2.4 million jobs to keep even with the growth of the labor force, so we would be considerable further behind where we were in February 2010. As it stands, we are roughly treading water with job growth that has been pretty much even with the growth of the population over this period.

Me too, but the numbers show we are not doing well. The liberals claim we are not in a recession anymore, yet we have not gotten out of the trench at all yet. We hit bottom, now we are just treading water. So we ARE STILL IN A RECESSION. The liberal talking points are to yell loudly that we are not in a recession. So no matter what you say, the liberal response will be them yelling, WE ARE NOT IN A RECESSION. And they will yell it until the useful idiots believe it.

And i doubt that you are a "republican".

ETA: Change that, i'm sure you are Republican. Just like the Republicans doing that "stellar" job in Washington.

FWIW, i'm conservative, not republican. And if you had an inkling of an idea of how to understand labor reports you'd be able to see the writing on the wall.

We lost more jobs than created. The labor participation rate has decreased, and those filing for food stamps have gone up. In what bat shite crazy world is this good economic indicators?

you're wasting your time doubting.

i was actually born into a very democratic family. in fact, the whole fricking town was democratic. however, i changed at 21 to republican. BUT, i always put country first instead of party first.

you see.....even though i didn't vote for our president (and many before him), I DON'T GET A HARD-ON WHEN HE DOESN'T DO SOMETHING GOOD. I've noticed that most republicans do.

How can you honestly look at the employment numbers and think they are good? Did you ignore everything else in the report? Labor participation rate? Population growth rate? Food stamp applications? etc...

The only good thing Obama has done, was give the go ahead to kill Bin Laden. But I refuse to give him full credit for one day, in a search/war that has gone on for 10 years. The troops get 100% credit.

admit it...if obama pulled the trigger, you still wouldn't give him credit. and, don't say you would because i know you would say that it was smith and wesson or some shite like that.

Well, obviously you are racist and hate the president.

We need to reset our expectations, the 250K jobs figure was for a return to the America greatness of old (you really must get out of that colonist way of thinking), anything over 100,000 jobs is now GREAT!

Do not complain or they will need to send you to camp for a while so you can learn 150k jobs is best.
