So not planning on getting a gift b/c the SO's birthday is 3 days later and I already have that.

I was thinking Vincent's, Chateau Du Lac, MiLA or Coquette.

So gods of the f&d board and foodies everywhere. Which should I go for? Vincent's uptown has no tables available for reservations and they told me I would have to be a walk in so that's a big negative, but a place we've been meaning to go back to.

Coquette or MiLa would be my choices.

I love Chateau Du Lac.
Def. wouldn't go where anywhere if you have to be a walk in.

Stay home and eat a home cooked meal and go somewhere that weekend. If you must go, definitely have reservations. Coquette and Chateau du Lac would be two spots. Mila is good but their atmosphere isn't the best

Popular sentiment see also NYE. In reality, it is because of the perception that people who dont go out to eat any other night of the eyar go out on Valentines/NYE. I find that to be impossible because I dont know anyone who only goes out to eat twice a year.

Maybe its so uncool its cool again like Hall and Oates.

ETA: a good restaurant is going to be good no matter the night, but especially on big dining out nights. Pick a good to great restaurant or better yet, one where you go a lot and you should be ok.

I don't hate on going out to eat on V-day all that much. It is a super busy night, but if you are at a decent restaurant, they should be able to handle it. Don't care for the places that bump prices and limit menu, but I don't think it is all that widspread.

Now mother's day is another story. You couldn't pay me to go out to eat on that day.

Exactly. What do these restaurants do? Add 30 more tables but not up their kitchen staff? Ridiculous logic by some of these people. Most really good restaurants consistently have nights where they're booked solid and they handle that fine. I think in part it's people trying to disguise the fact that they're boring couch potatoes by blaming other folks who flock to restaurants on holidays.

I just meant to quote you, not sure how the image got there.

I can see how the night could get sloppy at places that aren't great places.

1. You have primarily couples wanting to dine out and I could see this leading to seating issues.

2. Being that Mr. Romance is out with his #1 lady and trying to get her liquered up so he can get some, I'm guessing the tables do not turn as much on this night.

Again, I think this idea gets of it being a horrible night gets overplayed, but it seems that this is something that the food critics/writers will say 9 times out of 10 also.

A true chivalrous valentine would cook dinner for his #1 lady IMO.

Personally, I look forward to 3/14. I loves me some steak.
