Ang Lee's Hulk is actually pretty good as far as the story and script go. Yeah, the CGI is a bit clumsy in parts, but that's an ILM issue. As long as you can suspend belief, the story really does work, and I really think those that pan the movie as much as they do are missing out. Maybe watching it on AMC with story notes added something for me tonight, but I actually have always liked this version and the Ed Norton version equally. I really do like the introspective aspect of Lee's version just as much as the "smash" elements of the Incredible Hulk. Oh, and Jennifer C. is absolutely beautiful as Betty.

i hated both.... i just thought they went too far with him hulking out. its just a hard character to make a movie for... Superman is similar for me, i just cant watch them because he is indestructible... kinda ruins the whole movie.

Storyline taken from the comic, as are many points in the movie, so I don't have a problem with it.

Nick Nolte as Evil Daddy Cumulonimbus was unforgivable and impossible for any one, any script, any CGI, any cast to overcome

I can see that. That's why I think the Eric Bana one works a little better for me. It isn't all about smashing.

He was creepy and corrupted by his need to succeed. I liked him in the role, especially the one-on-one scenes with Bruce toward the end. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying this is a perfect movie. I just don't think it deserves the thrashing it constantly gets. Less "panel" shots would likely have been a good thing for sure.

but just in very general, overall comic book terms of protagonist/antagonist, it was an awful villan in it's conception just fricking awful, and not in the tiniest bit even remotely compelling

I think it definitely lost me a bit at the very end when he became Mr. Electricity, but I did like the thought of a dad reclaiming what he felt was his, even at the cost of losing his son. Hell, they set up from the beginning that his dad was a rat bastard who, once he realized that his son was part of his experiment, would use his son as a lab rat himself. He lived vicariously through him while at the same time working to take that power for himself. ...It was a little compelling; if not always executed well.
