Can anyone come up with a valid reason for Monty's offensive sets involving our best scorer standing off to the side, especially when guys like Vasquez were really struggling to make anything? I'm never going to be upset with a win, but not getting Gordon involved until the final 4 minutes of the game is just inexcusable to me.

Not a valid reason. Having our one player that can go off for 30 standing around all game resulted in a win tonight but is not a formula for success.

It's one game sir. Sure he didn't plan that but the way he was being defended kinda set the tone for how the offense changed.

The only thing I could think of would be spacing.

He was keeping him in the corner to stretch the D out, which might be why 1. Anderson was so open at the 3 point line and 2. why Smitty had such a solid game mid-range tonight

I understand that having one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA on him will definitely limit his touches, but it was obvious that the plays we were running had no intention of ever getting the ball into Gordon's hands. I'm sure that this won't be the case in most games but it is something that should never happen unless Gordon is shooting like Vasquez did tonight.

I get that, I do. Idk what the reasoning was and it is a valid argument to make but I guess it's just how the game went ya know?

Yeah, a win is a win so I'll take it, but coaches should know to involve their best player unless someone else has the hot hand.

also, offense was fine tonight.

memphis is one of the best defenses in the league and they play almost as slow as the hornets. getting to 90 points is a damn strong performance
