It seems to me that due to the (earned, rightful) praise for The Wire, Deadwood gets lost in the shuffle when we talk HBO on here. What are everyone's thoughts on the show?

I'm not sure where I'd rank it on the list of shows the network has put out, but I'll say this: Al Swearengen is one of the greatest characters HBO has ever done. Up there with Omar and Stringer.

It gets plenty of praise on here. Some people claim season 3 sucked but they are wrong. The season ended the only way it could end albeit very fast.

It is a shame it didn't run longer. Although I wouldn't have wanted to see season 4 if they killed off Doc Cochran or showed even more of the dreadful acting troupe.

I haven't seen Deadwood yet, but I imagine less people talk about it because of its cancellation.

Only Al can make the phrase "loopy count" a term of endearment.

It's a great show made great by all of rants by Al while getting head. The street fight between Dan and The Captain was epic.

I'm sorry that Brian Cox had such a limited role. I thought that his introduction would make a great series even better.

He was bogged down by the rest of the acting troupe storyline.

It is my second favorite show of all time behind The Wire. It gets lost in the shuffle b/c the show came to an abrupt end and was never allowed to totally run its course...

...cocksucker.

Deadwood is almost in a category by itself, it's that good. I think it's a top 5 series by hbo.

My favorites (No Order)

The Wire
Deadwood
Sopranos
Thrones
Rome

Awesome show as good as any but they unexpectedly ran out of funding during third season filming when they fully expected a fourth so they rushed the ending and thus the last part of third season was disjointed semi nonsensical and had a confusing ending. Too bad
