Mansur's is solid. I like the bar. Food has never been terrible.

Thanks. I'm not on Facebook. Still holding out.

Sad news. We need to do one last FB/OTGT there.

When is the final day?

As much as I wanted to like it there are just much better places to eat for less money. Donald is still a great chef

ETA: overhead has to be a killer right there

Mansur's is a really good spot. Great chargrilled oysters, fish and duck dishes. Crab and brie soup is solid as well.

I hate that Cochon didn't catch on there. Not enough of the Lafayette clientèle ever got into it. I figured that would probably be a problem. Very much a shame.

I wish he would have opened in Baton Rouge instead, just based on sheer numbers of population. Unfortunately, he let stereotypes of Baton Rouge and Lafayette palates cloud his judgment in an adverse way.

This. People are bitching about eating local and are mad it's closing down but I think there was bette food in lafayette.

Is that place a chain that's coming to lafayette?

I've always liked mansurs. idk how well it will do in lafayette- it's similar enough to charley g's so people may not take to it and stick with the city favorite. Who knows?

I really wanted to like Cochon in Lafayette, but never really enjoyed a meal there like I thought I would. Always a shame to see a locally owned restaurant close though.

No, just one location in BR.

I agree. Rents have to come down in that area at some point, if developers want long-term sustainability.

Just as soon start a thread asking how long before Mansurs closes, and it hasn't even moved in yet.

I think Ruffino's is planning a River Ranch location as well. Sad to hear about Cochon.

I figured it would. Some posters here acted as if Lafayette wouldn't support it because the food isn't good enough. That was laughable.

Feb 10 is the last day, according to Lafayette Food Junkie's FB page. That's a Sunday. I probably couldn't make it that day (if y'all choose to include me), but I could make it other days.

ETA: the correct day of the week. D'oh!

To be fair, they started with a different menu than the BR location had. They did that in NOLA and Laffy, I believe.
