So, dubstep, why should I like it?

Is there inherent beauty or soul in it?
Artistic value?

Explain it to me. It sounds like rhythmic noise.

You should like it because drunk college aged girls like dancing to it. Its not bad when you are blackout at a dive bar.

People who listen to that shite just normally should get their brain checked.

If you don't like it, you don't like it. No need to force yourself to listen to it just because it's "in" right now.

FWIW, i liked a lot of dub when artists were just blowing up in the states (Rusko, Skream, Bassnectar), but it has gotten to the point where it's become a pissing contest to see who can make the meanest sounding bass line.

I still love electronic music, simply because of how limitless the producers are, especially talented ones.

These days i listen to a lot more ambient, downtempo, glitch, psychill, breakbeat stuff but everyone has their tastes.

depends, do you like glitchy DnB? If you like Jungle/ Dnb then small doses of dubstep are ok.

To me it sounds like a menage a trois between two transformers and an 808 but i like it.

Every distinguishable kind of music has a recognizable niche... The fact that you can label dubstep when you hear it means that it has at least some musical value.

I agree with the poster who laughed at all the ridiculous sub genres... Can't stand all those stupid names for what sounds exactly the same. As far as EDM goes, to me it's all about tempos, you have have the faster house beats and the half time dubstep feel.... Anything else is just bullshite. When you listen to a lot of house, dubstep is just a nice relaxing flow of bass.

Disclaimer.... If you don't smoke weed, you will never understand

The last thing I think of when hearing dubstep is "relaxing"

Well I remember when Burial came out with that album in 07 and it got good reviews. I had never heard of dubstep but hated the album. Flash forward 3 years and I hear "dubstep" again but it sounded nothing like Burial.

To be fair I never found Burial that "dubstep" even back then.
